Nah mate I dont agree with that at all. Hes a good player for the league, nothing more.

That said when hes on form I like him but I think hes finished here. Too many daft fouls and hardman acts and not enough product.

I think in a 3 man midfield he will do great. We all know he sucks at playing CM with 2, but the way Rodgers talks about a 3 man midfield, I think Johansen would do very well and replicate the form from 2 seasons ago.

But, if we got offered 5/6million for him now, sell him. Add that to the supposed 15million and go out and buy a more completed and experienced midfielder.

I predict he will thrive under Rodgers.

He is a brilliant midfield player, but something happened under Deila and he lost a good bit of form.

I reckon he will come good again though, and we'll see the player we all know he is.

He's already proven he's much more than that in Europe and for Norway.

He is Champions League class IMO. No one can tell me otherwise.

Seems like he suits Rodgers' style of play down to the ground.

    He wants a midfield 3 of: Runner-Dictator-Runner

Very few midfielders I've seen have the same energy as Johansen.

    McGregor - Brown - Johansen

Think that would be a good starting point for what Rodgers seems to like.

Armstrong suits that role as well. He's one of the players I think Rodgers will really like.

I know Brown's obviously there because he's the skipper but I'd much rather have Bitton. Wouldn't mind just punting Brown at right back:smiley-laughing002:

Tbh brown isn't a guaranteed starter Rogers hardly used Gerard in his Last season so he's not scared to drop big name players

Back in his Hibs days and early for us, on the right side of a mid 3 was his best place. But he is getting on, older, wiser, slower. He is gonna need to take up the more Pirlo-esque role. And arguably has been the past year or two. Certainly been playing a lot deeper this season and combined with Bitton in the side he has been very much a holding player. Suitable for that role if you ask me, and many others I would imagine.

Agree with Bitton playing the same role, see above for the pair of them generally being a bad fit to play at the same time. Bitton would edge it for me, but reckon it's likely to be Brown that holds the position.
RB - lets not get too haste haha
Hopefully so, and if so then a healthy rotation with Bitton in that role would be ideal for the current crop of players we have.

Broony playing a Pirlo role. :56:

You need to be able to pass a ball to do that and Broony as much as I love him, can't really pull anything off. He's never midfield playmaker in a million years.

Bitton dictating the tempo with McGregor and Johansen as the 2 water carriers ahead of him box to box.

Wouldn't mind going into the Qualifiers with that at all.

Bitton is really the only player able to fully play in the dictator role, then you can have on either side of him any of Brown,Johansen, McGregor, Armstrong, Henderson, Allan.

Ajer is a sitting mid as well isn't he? Will be interesting see what style of play he has.

Its very difficult to pick a midfield.

I think Rodgers will 100% start Brown, and I tend to think he will also play a 4-3-3, so he may well go with Bitton as the deepest lying midfielder. I think it'll then be between McGregor and Johansen for the other position. But then where does he play Rogic?

    Bitton
    Brown McGregor
    Roberts------------Rogic
    Griffiths
I wouldn't mind something like that, with Rogic and Roberts generally having a license to roam inside and even interchange between each other.

I do think Rogic is more dangerous centrally but that formation would leave us quite solid in midfield, and there's plenty of opportunity for flexibility in it. Rogic could drift inside and leave space for McGregor on the outside and vice versa. Probably something that would be better to try domestically before its used in crucial qualifiers to be fair.

For what we have now, I'd love to see Bitton as dictator with Johansen and Armstrong in the other 2 CM roles.
