His form has obviously dipped because the team is changing, and his position/role within it changed. Last season he really thrived after January when the defensive shape of the team had really clicked, meaning he was free to roam and play his own game.

I'm disappointed with him this year, because I feel he is someone who could become one of the leaders of this team. When we're performing poorly, we need a couple of players we can count on to maintain their own standards through a rough patch - like Brown.

Johansen is as much a symbol of our success of last season as he is of our downfall this season, but he'll hit form again.

Needs a haircut, that's the key to success for him.
He actually played well last 30 mins of Hearts game, got back to what he was good at in pressing Hearts players all over the pitch and kept it simple on the ball. Still not a sitting midfielder though, could maybe try him on him on the left since he does have good left peg.

You've just admitted yourself it's his form which has changed. He's still the same player and will come good again.

He's too good a player not to and given he was Norwegian midfielder of the year then Norwegian POTY it clearly wasn't just a purple patch for a few months with us.

Aye, I think I was a bit harsh to say he was very overrated.

That's all it has been with us .
First season he was pretty poor and we were generally unimpressed. Second season before Christmas he was an utter nightmare and the consensus was he needed dropping if the team were to improve . Then he hit some fine form from Feb to April this year , which won him POTY - he was absolutely shocking in the post split fixtures ( yes, he was , it was noted but it was put down to exhaustion after his long season ). He has been back to awful all season this year aswell in the main .

Guy is massively overrated , although probably not anymore as people are starting to realise that "form dips " don't tend to last 7 months.

He's been doing my * in for too long. I would get him to * in January. Looks like he doesn't want to be here anyway.

I agree that he has been a waste of a shirt this season.

But is it Ronny's fault Johansen is off form? The truth is, none of us know why, we play guessing games most of the time. :50:

He could have personal stuff going on that is affecting his form.

He could, as another poster said, not want to be here.

Who knows? No * on here anyway. :smiley-laughing002:

Would hope Deila can get to the bottom of what is actually wrong with Johansen. Guy has been a waste of a shirt all season, and it's a shame considering how quality he was last season.

It's a real mystery what's happened to him, but hopefully he can turn it around at some point. Would hate to see him go because he turned *.

Ronny never takes him off either , Rogic was playing well and must have been full of confidence after his great goal , then Ronny takes him off and leaves Johansen on.

When Brown is back will he get a place in the attacking mid trio or will he be benched?

He definitely only works in the central attacking position, anywhere else and were carrying him, he's far to ill discipled to sit deep, and on this season's form he doesn't deserve to be starting there

well considering the points raised here yes id blame ronnie

point one never subbied or dropped regardless of how bad hes been... (surely this gives him some kind of false sense of security to carry on being pish)

point two played in a deeper role instead of the same role he was POTY (who makes this decision and why isnt he moved back to the role he was infact a decent player, and to me it looks as if he hates the position hes being played in or just cant play there... again this is down to the manager)

    want me to carry on?

although i must admit that i have no time or patience for ronnie any more, or infact i dont think at any point since he was appointed as a cheap yes man..... i get the same impression from Johannsen... he doesnt like him either... (yep still guess work but fits the bill)

He has been dropped and played just as * in cam as he has been in sitting midfield this season.
Start of the season said he had an injury, I think just because he won POTS he doesn't feel the need to put as much effort and work in and that he can just stroll games, mentality issue definitely.

is he playing the same position as last season, possibly im mistaken but here was me thinking he played behind the striker... not in front of the defence where he hasnt got the defensive mind required to track runners and put in tackles (that doesnt even account for the fact hes a complete shitebag and i mean that in a footballing sense shirks tackles n 50/50s what kinda holding/defensive mid ever made it with that kinda attitude)

doesnt stop him from picking up stupid bookings though for daft late and petulant fouls....

honestly some people are blinded by the bullshit thats spouted by the imposter we currently have at the helm.. talks a good game ill give himjust a shame he doesnt put it into practice...

You could also say that by sticking by him and playing him so often Ronny is trying to get his confidence to return by showing such faith and belief in his ability.

I did think he was alright against Hearts, I think he has the energy and tenacity to be a good DM player if he didn't have the tendancy to run all over the place.

Just read your post lennon11, looks like we disagree on his ability to break up play :smiley-laughing002: It's amazing how everyone can see something different in a player.

normally when he breaks up play in my eyes its due to him committing a foul mate

as for showing faith in his abillity and trying to return him to the confident player he was, what you think other players are thinking when they see there number come up on the subs board... (id think what the fk! how come this * still got a shirt) how much does that then hurt the player being removed from plays confidence when hes left on the park...

football really is a funny old game

shove him back where he can play, and then see his confidence return, id love him to return to the player he was last season but in my opinion that is never gonna happen in his current position

Aye true I do think it would be a strange to treat him differently from other players. It was just a thought because it does look like he's getting more games than his form suggests.

He does commit a few fouls true but I think he can also put a decent tackle in.

The problem the team has with his natural position is the opposite problem we have with every other position. There is so much competition for central midfield that it's hard to see him getting that role back without a rapid return to form.

We'll find out for sure when Brown comes back because if Ronny is determined to play him he might get a chance in centre.

theirs so much competition in that area cause someone keeps buying up attacking mids when we have enough already, kinda strange when considering the player were talking about was player of the year there only last season

again not really much of a confidence booster when the manager goes n buys 3 or 4 players to play in a position that you practically own the year before and resorts to moving you back to a defensive holding mid (same goes for Armstrong whos pushed out to a wider role thats also evident he cant play) dont get me wrong i agree with the Christie (young scottish lotta potential) signing and possibly Allan but a team cant perform with only midfielders especially midfielders that are being played out of there natural positions

crazy really when you think about it
