I don't think knowing any of the events is going to totally ruin your enjoyment of the movie .I didn't think the plot was that convoluted, was probably expecting better if I'm honest the action and visuals made it good for me

Really? Just watched it there and I thought it was excellent. Don't think it was quite the level of the original trilogy but streets ahead of the prequels.

All the main characters are good and well-developed, and they had a good mix of the new characters alongside those from the original trilogy. And of course it had the classic cliche Star Wars moments that reminded you of the original trilogy.

It did have flaws of course, but it was very good and I think the "new" trilogy can only build from here.

I had unseasonably high expectations, as I'm a major SW geek, but I didn't love it...they did a good job with it but it was trying too hard to please the older crowd and the major plot story is a rehash of the original film.

Still better than 99.9% of other films out there, so not sure how some can call it "*".

*? You may not like it but it's certainly not *.

@Seosamh - There were a lot of nods back to the original films and obviously similar themes/plot, but I think it was needed to be honest. They played it safe and they had to. It was a solid film and sets up the next film very well, whilst establishing some great characters.

Aye, I've had time to digest it. Maybe I was too harsh. :smiley-laughing002:

I don't know what I was expecting but yes, its much better than the prequals, much better.

I just thought the storyline was a bit so so. They've spent a tonne on the movie and getting the rights so I expect they will spend a good amount of time developing the next few movies.

I thought it was really good, definitely worth going to see.

It was obviously meant to be very similar to the original in terms of storyline but it got to beyond a joke. It was almost like a remake which is not what this should've been.

I would've made this one a bit smaller scale and more personal. The Starkiller was cool but it should've been left for the next film or the one after.

I would've had Kylo Ren in a huge Capital Ship, and the final confrontation could've been a crucial battle between the Resistance and the First Order's fleets, with the final sabre-battle taking place on the Capital Ship.

I didn't like the way the heroes just kept bumping into each other on Starkiller. Probably another reason it should've been left out.

I liked how Kylo Ren was portrayed. It's like an apology for the Anakin debacle in the prequels.
