sour grapes lads:38: ..give stan a break its the league and lack of opposition he had a dislike 2 NOT CELTIC FC..

if i remember correctly stoichkov had been putting stan under pressure 2 leave celtic for years and he STAYED LOYAL TO THE HOOPS..give credit where its due

for a young foreigner he didnt half have a great attitude and will 2 win forget the end..

This actually shows that my vibe was right - you make my point for me. And Petrov stayed for as long as Henke did

no the 'vibe' that you spoke of was me having a negative view to anyone leaving celtic...not true at all like i said it was all down to the manner in which he left henrik as i said before turned down man united at his peak to stay with celtic then nearing the end of his career went to a european giant barca!.

finally i didnt appreciate him advising maloney to also hook up with the same agent....
so yes i am entitled to my opinion and i do indeed think he is a *

I thought that I had described it at length above but I'll summarise

    Seven Years service

Played his part in a lot of success

Signed the new contract to help Celtic get money

Did this to help the club even though he knew some fans would slate him for it

Celtic were happy with this arrangement

He wants a new challenge and he has a right to go

Listen martin i would never slate him for his time at the club far the opposite..
As for the getting celtic money arrangement..complete rubbish!..if agent * had him on his books before that contract was signed he would never had signed the extension..just as maloney has done..
His conduct at the end had the most bearing on my negative views on him(as stated by yourself).
    *******************************************************
and yes i do put him in the same catagory as miller, burchill, donnelly,o'donnell guys who thought the grass would be greener elsewhere and left the club on a bad note as to which the tabloids picked up on and slated us for...so my opinion is..
    * him.

Paradise is a one way system. If you enter and do well, you stay and become a legend. If you leave there's no coming back!

Let him rot in the EPL!

He'll never play in a european match again!

So much for his BIG ambitions.

When he retires he'll look back and regret his decisions.

It wasn't about money. It was about playing in a better league. He gets to play against the likes of Henry and Rooney every week now instead of 6 times a season in the CL.

You have every right to be unhappy with his behaviour in the end - as I am too. However if somebody in my personal life * me over I have to weigh up all the good things they have done for me in comparison to the bad things before I decide that they are a total * and I'm never going to have anything to do with them again. The same applies with footballers. IMO Petrov did a lot more good things than bad things for Celtic. IMO it is important to remember that.

Regarding the contract extension which he signed before asking away I am absolutely certain that this was signed with both parties knowing what was going to happen - regardless of the agent involved. Celtic and Petrov agreed to do that so that Celtic would get a good fee. The same thing happened with Ferguson before he went to Blackburn. Both players got flack for signing then leaving and both got good transfer fees for their clubs paid for by an ex-manager of both clubs respectively - that is not a coincidence. Celtic knew he would be going.

Some of the other comments against him disappoint me. "The most overrated player to ever wear the hoops" is ridicluous. Petrov played an important role in a lot of success for the club. Or did we achieve so much success despite him being in the team? Was MON wrong to make him a regular ?

I also feel that some of the people slagging Petrov will be the same ones calling Alan Thomson a *. Thomson stays to honour his contract and is branded a leech, Petrov asks away after signing a new contract that earns Celtic millions and is labelled a traitor. You cannae have it both ways. Or is no player ever allowed to ask away unless it Man U, Juve, Milan, Barca ?

Petrov made an * of things at the end. He got it wrong big time, he made a mistake. I am willing to forgive him that given the good work he did for the club. I find it disappointing that so many people are so quick to overlook the job he did on the pitch for what is a long time in modern football.
