So long as Celtic persist in these dual sponsorship deals with the 'Ibroke' club, I would strongly encourage as many Hoops fans to buy the shirt WITHOUT sponsorship. By doing so, you are still supporting Celtic & the Nike deal is not hurt, because it's still a shirt sold, so the only party being hurt here is Tennant's, who miss out on the free advertizing space you would be providing.

That said, I have only bought 1 'modern' shirt since Nike took over the manufacturing & that was the Bottle Green 40th Anniversary 'Away' shirt. The others I have bought have been all retro tops & these don't have the sponsors anyhow.

No sponsor everytime for me. I don't have to be identical to the players because I support the club and I'm not there to be a cardboard cut out of the players. I don't feel comfortable walking about advertising something when I just want to show support for my team, simples. Don't really care if it looks better or not.

Also won't look as dated if you wear it once a new top is released without the sponsor.

    No sponsor, for 2 reasons.

    1. Tennants is * pish. Worse tasting beer available in Scotland.
    2. * being a walking advert for any company.

With all due respect, are you for real?

I would hate to think of that iconic moment when Caesar lifted the big eared Cup in '67, with Tennant's splashed across his chest. Shirt sponsorship may be a necessary evil that clubs need to deal with, but to say that the Hoops look 'wrong' without a sponsor is just plain daft, IMO.

I believe I am "for real" yes. I don't like the look of it at all without a sponsor and I don't just mean Celtic shirts, I have the same opinion for all football shirts. Maybe you grew up in an era that didn't have them but ever since I can remember football shirts have had sponsors so I just think it looks weird without a sponsor or at least something across the middle. I don't even like the fact our shirts don't have sponsors on them on FIFA and if I was a kid i'd be devestated they don't look exactly like the players' shirts.
I don't really get how you can take my post so personally to be honest? And are you saying you wouldn't want us to lift the European Cup now because we'd have Tennants on the front of our shirt? :97:

Got mine without it :D Absolutely love it! Don't tend to wear the bumble bee as much because it still has the old sponsor.

My post was not written as a personal slight, rather out of incredulity. I did say that it is a reality of the modern age that shirt sponsorship is a necessary evil, but having a shirt sponsor simply for the sake of having a sponsor is far from ideal, much less make it right.

Remember, Fergus McCann refused to get into bed with a number of sponsors one year during his tenure because the deal on the table was not the right one for Celtic. Hence why it was the Umbro logo on the shirt fronts, for no other reason than they were the kit manufacturers & gave the board time to find both a suitable & equitable deal.

As for my comment about the Caesar pic, in the remote possibility of a future Celtic side emulating the Lions feat of course I would celebrate it, but that was not the point I was making, rather I was asking does that pic look 'wrong' to you? Does watching clips of wee Jinky or King Kenny look 'wrong' to you, simply because they don't have a sponsor?

Nevermind that the current Tennant's joint deal is a shameful excuse of a sponsorship partner. IMO, it is little more than whoring out of the Hoops. :38:

I used to go with the sponsored one. But now if possible I always go without a sponsor. The main reason for me being how much I hate the fact that we have the same shirt sponsor as the huns. It's part of my refusing to have Celtic associated with the huns theme so to speak.

I also seem to remember a season or two prior to mcCann taking over where we had nowt at all on our shirts, in fact got a shirt of wee joe millers here with nothing on it. Remember back then most supporters actually being in favour of no sponsors, mind you, if memory serves me correct we'd just had sponsoship from Ford and no * was happen with that!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ha ha

Folk get worked up to easy, it's only a sponsor

When you pay £40-60 for a top then you obviously want it to look good. And if you think a sponsored one looks better then obviously you will get that.
