Just fear that he's using our interest in him to negotiate a better contract at Arsenal or another club.
Time will tell, he's the kind of signing we need.

 

Ye he is the kind of signing we do need, experienced CB and someone who is not in the mould of on the treatment table every few games, he will be a prominent figure for however long IF he were to move to parkhead obv that is still a rumour, but i think it would be a fantastic signing.

A few changes this summer with either a new manager or Lennon, at CB(campbell) and ST(goalscorer) then i would be less nervous about only the 3rd qual round against fenerbache or Zenit etc..., not sure he could take us through against spurs, bremen or someone like that.

Good signing if it were to happen nonetheless.

 

If hes good enough for Arsenal, hes good enough for me, as long as there
are no mental wages involved tho!!

I thought the same as you at first. I thought over it some more and I dont think its such a bad idea. Our defence has been our main problem for a couple of seasons now. We lack experience and leadership at the back and after watching him play for Arsenal tail end of season he was one of there best players. Hes a commanding player I think he is what we need just now.

 

I would love to snap up big Sol, I just hope he isnt using us to get either more money or a longer contract from the Gooners.

Well Weir just won player of the year so i dont see a problem with that :icon_mrgreen:

 

He would be a great signing, and he would also be an invaluable teacher to our younger players

 

I'm of the same thinking of most people here , at first i was sceptical but now i've warmed to the idea and i'm really excited about it, but if he was inspiried by what Lennon said, would the deal still occour if Lennon wasn't Given the fulltime job.
But if Lennon can do that to a potential signing this is a good sign for his managerial future.

 

Yeah, I think if he can swing a player like him away from a team like arsenal to a team like celtic then he is showing he could well be the right man for the job...

 

well iv been on the arsenal forum there and their basically ripping us to bits if he goes to us! they want him to stay,and their basically calling us a wee and nothing club too

campbells a liability...his heads broken. was good in his youth, he's well past his best.
ask notts county fans what they think of him.

 

This would be a great signing, someone who could organise our defence at long last, his experience would be invaluable to the younger players.

 

People must look past his age, he is a leader and was playing at the very highest level in the CL only last year, Wenger must believe in him putting him at the heart of his defence against some of the best teams in europe. Weir is the most consistent performer in the spl and is 40, Campbell is only 35, this is probably his final year, lets give him a spl champions medal and allow him to play for us on CL nights, let him experience the passion of Celtic, he will bring on our younger lads Rogne, Thompson.
