CU Twitter page has got Campbell to be the first new signing and possible captain.

If we do get Campbell I wonder if he could help maybe bring in a couple of young gooners on loan, possibly a left back?

would give him a player/coaching role as he will be good in showing youngsters how to defend as a few that have come through the ranks obviously cant defend
then again i dont think mjallby & campbell between then could show odea how to defend

Notice the 'hope so anyway' part at the end of the post suggesting i don't know anything official. Just think all the signs seem positive for this deal to go through.

Not really - we don't have a clue if he's closer to coming to us, staying at Arsenal or going to another Premier League club.

    Can see this slipping away.

I hope you're wrong because i think he would be good here.

Just feel Cambell himself seemed keen on the idea from the quotes and now Lenny has the job he will sign up!

    Fingers crossed mate.

I agree mate, he'd be excellent here and would become a cult figure like Bobo, when was the last time we had a cult hero defender? Probably Bobo himself. Huns have had Cuellar & Bougherra :38:

Yeah, they seem to pull out these class defenders from nowhere i hate to say. Think Rogne could be good one for us though mate. As for Hooiveld who knows! Haha.

True :38: Rogne & Hooiveld could be the answer and form a solid partnership - but I'd rather get a defender who we know for sure will do an excellent job, and big Sol certainly fits that bill. Surprised Arsenal haven't signed him up yet considering he was their best defender by quite some distance last season.

SOL CAMPBELL has hunted glory all his glittering football career.

And that desire for trophies would be as intense as it's ever been with Spurs, Arsenal and England if he became a Celtic player. Campbell is not the type to head to Scotland for a bank balance boosting jolly-up.
He told SunSport last night: "I'm a winner and that's all that would interest me if I joined Celtic. I would also give Scottish football total respect."
The big news for Celtic fans today is that Campbell is becoming increasingly attracted by the idea of heading north.
Cynics questioned the intimidating defender's ambition when he quit the Gunners to join Portsmouth in 2006.
He'd won two titles and two FA Cups with the Londoners while also scoring in a Champions League Final loss to a Henrik Larsson-inspired Barcelona.
Yet here he was, according to the sceptics, heading for the south coast for a bit of relaxation.
Within two years Campbell had them choking on their words after inspiring Pompey to two top-ten Premiership finishes and a first FA Cup for 69 years.
He was imperious for Harry Redknapp's side before the club's bubble burst and he left on a sour note.
A sensational move to League Two outfit Notts County lasted only one game amid rumours of the club breaking promises to him.
But he soon got an invite from Arsene Wenger to return to the Gunners for training. And in January this year he was signed until the end of the season. It sparked him, got him back to his focused best.
Now Neil Lennon's out to lure him away from the Gunners - desperate to make him a figurehead for a new Celtic side.
And Campbell's being won over, excited that Lennon's also trying for Craig Bellamy and Robbie Keane. There's also the intent of Celts major shareholder Dermot Desmond to back the boss as much as possible. Campbell, 35, said: "I think Celtic want to get back to where they should be. It's a MASSIVE club.
"Neil has told me that the main man at the club is also determined for success again.
"The ambition is to win the championship again and make proper in-roads in Europe. For me that's exciting.
"You want leaders on the pitch and that's why Neil is looking at me. He wants more of them in the side. Not only does Neil want to push Celtic domestically, he wants to push them in Europe and be a force again.
"That really appeals to me. When you go out there you want to know the whole club is behind that push.
"That's what football's all about - you want to keep on pushing and see how far you can go. Neil's young and ambitious. He wants to do that. And I think he's exactly what Celtic need right now.
"My desire to be successful is as strong as ever. But I need to hear that everyone at the club feels the same.
"It's about pushing the boat out that bit further than everyone else. That's what leads you to success.

"Bust a gut to sign a player or two, someone you feel can make the difference.
"I know the likes of Chris Sutton had a great time there.
"Now it's about speaking to Neil again and seeing what can happen."
Campbell is giving Arsenal and any other interested parties complete respect in their attempts to get his name on a deal.
He said: "I want to be up front with everyone. I want to pursue Celtic and that would see me coming up for a look around. Arsenal, though, also brought me back and that meant a great deal. It's a club that's given me so many happy memories and there's an offer to stay.
"I don't want anyone's nose out of joint. It's important things are done properly and if I were to leave Arsenal I'd want it to be on the best possible terms.
"I've a big decision and I'll carefully consider all my options.
"But I can only repeat again that I'm serious with my interest in Celtic."

NEIL LENNON is so keen to sign Sol Campbell he's agreed to let him miss the opening Champions League qualifier - for his honeymoon.

Campbell, if he joins Celtic, would also be absent for most of the four-game North American pre-season tour. Lennon's ready to hand giant stopper Campbell a two-year, £35,000-a-week deal - 12 months more than Arsenal are offering.
But he's also told the veteran stoppeer he can jet off with wife-to-be Fiona straight after their mid-July wedding.
Celtic are due to report back on July 1, and likely to jet out to America on the 12th.
They face a Champions League third qualifying round first-leg tie on July 28-29 with the return on August 4-5.
Campbell said: "I'm getting married on July 17. But Neil's told me he's quite flexible, that if I need ten days-two weeks honeymoon then he'll be fine with that.
"That really makes me happy because if I'm not happy, and my family's not happy, then you're not going to play your best football are you?
"If I were to sign for Celtic then I'm likely miss the first leg of the European tie.
"I don't know who Celtic will get, but hopefully it would be someone that would give them a good chance of progressing.
"It's a difficult one, but I can't move my wedding. Football's very important to me and I would give Celtic everything if I sign."

I think thats great that a player out of contract can talk so openly about his option, gives us fans a bit of info that we need. I have a huge respect for Campbell now even if he doesnt sign for us.

Rogne will learn * of a lot from him. Hope thats who our centre partnership is.
