How do you know we didn't approach Toure, and he was asking for something ridiculous like £50k a week, or something? He's still an experienced EPL defender, and I'm sure both he and his agents still reckon he can get a mouth-watering deal from one of the teams at the bottom of the English premiership table - just checked a website there (I know it's not concrete proof) and it claims Toure is on roughly £65k a week.............come on tae * :56::56::56:

My completely wide of the mark?

He is 35 and will be looking for wages that at least match our highest earner, is slow and inconsistent and has won three trophies in a 15 year career. Terrible signing. We should be looking for the Kolo Toure of 15 years ago.

You don't know what you're talking about if you think Toure is slow and wouldn't instantly be the best CB at the club if he did sign.

He's rapid for 35 * sake :56: one of his best attributes is his pace.

    * need to calm it. Astana will be hard but we've got enough to beat them over 2 legs as long as Efe doesn't get near the pitch. Erik and Ajer at the back and a compact midfield over there and we'll be fine.

two of they trophys were premier league titles:smiley-laughing002:dont know how you can talk his achievements down.he also has one 3 fa cups and an African cup of nations.toure has has a very good career.

does it matter if hes slow,if he is better than anything we have?toure had a great season last year and played a big part in Liverpool getting to 2 finals playing a total of 26 matches.he had great performances in liverpools 3 nill wins against man city and villareal.and liverpools best player against sevilla in the Europa final.

We haven't made it to the CL in the last two years and struggled against Lincoln Red Imps. Not sure we want to sign any player that wants to sign for us at this point, we have to prove ourselves first in Europe. The Premiership and the Europa League won't cut it. Our squad should be strong enough to make it.

I don't. And if he did, then why don't we move on to someone else straight away. I never checked his wages. Aye that's the problem, he can go get 50k at Bournemouth or something :31:. But surely after sitting down for 5 mins with the guy and he goes i want 60k we go right there's the door!..maybe that's even what happened, but it would be nice if then moved on to another target (we might have done, but whoever that is hasn't been signed yet :smiley-laughing002: and hence the problem!)

Kolo in, who's a bosman, and only requires negotiations with wages etc and that bit, I might time wise. Lawell doesn't need to agree a transfer fee with any club. It's straight to agent/player to talk money. Which I was saying we take too long to do, if all the gossip is correct, IMO.

The complete dearth of talent in the squad didn't just sneak up on us ,Erik looks like the only decent player we have signed in the past two years im way past the point of calming down

Well you've said it yourself mate, everything we (the fans) know is nothing more than pure speculation from the likes of Twitter etc.

If Rodgers definitely wanted/wants Toure, then he'll know exactly what wage he was on..........he signed him for Liverpool ffs! :56::56::56: If he appraoched him after his release, and his agent told him he wanted x amount (which I can only assume would well surpass £30k) then we will have moved on to the next target(s), that are in no doubt in negotiation with both club and agent.

We need experience. He has it in abundance.

He was Liverpools best player in the EL Final last season, he's rapid.

If 35 is old I'd be cashing my pension in 10 year :smiley-laughing002: some players body's can handle it longer than most others and Kolo seems to be one of those players.

We've not even managed to get rid of most of the deadwood yet either. I understand signings take time, and that there might not exactly be clubs lining up to sign the likes if Efe Ambrose, but what exactly have we been doing?

I don't think Rodger's wants to be hasty and sign someone for the sake of it,quality first

    Thats right.

Do you know anything about him as a footballer other than his age? Id suggest you look at Liverpools record last season with Toure in the team. That "slow 35 year old" was only last season playing at a higher level than any of our players managed to achieve.

He has probably done more in football and played in more big games than any player in our squad. He would instantly command respect and would offer an invaluable presence on and off the pitch. We need winners and experience to get into the CL and he ticks both boxes.

Mate we are struggling to sign Shane Duffy. If you think we are gona sign a player a la Kolo Toure 15 years ago then you need to bring your head out the clouds.

He might command a high wage, but in turn whats that to pay if we reached the group stages? What if we paid millions for a dud?
