    Given doesnt want to come, simple as. He has made virtually no comment on coming to Celtic Park, he will go where the money is.

    At 35 he is far too old for us to be considering a £4m fee for. Forster is a far more sensible option at a lower fee.

    A lot of people seem to assume that getting Given is a question of matching wages, it's more likely to be the transfer fee, which Celtic either can afford or they can't. It seems unlikely that he's coming now anyway but begging Newcastle for Forster is hardly the answer to our problems either. He's certainly not the worst out there but if Given, a proven international keeper, is worth 4 mill, Forster is worth less than half that and i wouldn't pay 2 mill at this stage of his career.

    Surely there is another option out there???:31:

    He did interviews a few weeks back where he was saying how he is a lifelong fan and would love to play for Celtic but its up to Neil Lennon and Man City to get a deal sorted etc

    35's not that old for a keeper either, look at Brad Friedel, David James and Van der Saar (until last season), all still playing well.

    Yeah, but its all bollocks though mate. Funny how its exactly the same scenario as with Bellamy yet, he is getting stick and Given gets nothing.

    Personally I think he is too old to be paying a fee for. At 35, £4m is far too expensive.

    Forster did exceptional last season and I would like Neil to go back in for him. I dont see anyone else that I think could do the job as well.

    Villa are unworthy of his talents, Given should have been at one of the top 4 in England years ago but he was loyal to a fault to Newcastle then when Man City signed him, the manager made the questionable decision of dropping him in favour of Joe " Bruce Payne " Hart.

    As much as I love Given, I think Hart deserved his place in the Man Shity team.

    Hart's a good keeper but Given was dropped for no good reason, he played well when they first signed him and was ditched in favour of the England keeper, it's all politics i reckon

    Not due to them being bad players due to the wages they are on .

    If he moves and he is on 25k a week less can see City paying him the 25k a week less for the time he had on his contract in a golden handshake done the same with Ireland Dunne etc .

    Hart came back to Shity with a brilliant season a birmingham behind him. He deserved that shirt.

    So the keeper who was in the team and playing well deserved to be dropped?

    Let me break it down for you.

    Given=Man City
    Hart=Birmingham

    Hart at Birmingham > Given at City

    Hart at City > Given at City

    = Hart no1.

    Im not saying their bad players at all of course they were 1ce rated, n are still good, great players but mancini has came in and has his on views, his on opinion on players, and the rest (hughes signings bar a few) become bench ridden and over paid and the majority dont want to touch them n they players are so used to the money they dont want anything less!! :icon_mrgreen:

    Flawed mathematics there, mate. Man City are a bigger club than Birmingham.
