  1. Have to agree with dazzamac 3-4m for one of the best goalies around is surely within our reach even allowing for the fact our tv revenue isnt great , its a crucial position and can be the difference between success and failure and would hardly be classed as a risk !!

It is a crucial position i agree , however at those prices and wages no thanks Forster will cost just over £2m and wages would be miniscule in comparison
Oh and for the crucial position he had 20 plus shutouts last year and has a good 12 yrs ahead of him

Have been arguing for Forster for some time. With the way things are he is looking more and more a bargain.

So much for Shay "Id love to play for Celtic" Given wanting to come to us. I dont think he ever considered us as an option.

I wouldnt have paid £4m for him anyway. At 35 that is a ridiculous fee to throw at him. Forster for half that and he could be here for a decade.

I hope that Lennon goes back for him.

  4. We paid 3.8 mill for Fortune and 3 mill for Juarez over the last 2 summers and neither were top class. There's lots of talk about buying a striker when we already have 2 of the best in the league in Stokes and Hooper, Sammy and Murphy aren't brilliant backups but Maloney and Commons can both play off either Stokes or Hooper. So it would be much more beneficial to spend the majority of the budget on a top class keeper such as Given, at 3-4 million he is a bargain! a proven keeper at the highest level who would have vast experience in Europe and big matches.

Like Bellamy this won't happen as we can't match his wages and shouldn't over stretch ourselves for a keeper who has had his fair share of injuries recently. :shamrock:

Agree Forster would be the better buy and more realistic for us.

  6. And stick on top of that his wages....30,000 per week is another 2-3 million.
So 4 million to buy 3 million per season in wages....for three years.
    Yeah cheap as * chips.

  7. We paid nothing like 3 million for Juarez. On topic, I think Forster is better value, especially considering the wages Shay would be after.

Aye but Scott Brown was bought when we had TV Money coming in also Givens wages would be a heck of a lot more than Broonys ..You cant compare the 2

  9. i love given:shamrock: if on a free then defo but not 4 mil plus wages out of our reach IMO money would be better on a striker

  10. if given wants to be our number 1 his agend will have told lenny so, he has to accept celtic wont pay crazy money, to be a fan of the club he knows this so to still be interested shows he will drop wages, by how much we shall see...

  11. I would rather we went for Forster than Given

  12. thought given was signing for villa??????????

  13. Everyone citing other past signing as a reason to sign Given isn't correct. Simply because this isn't the same transfer, window, or even anything close. Saying that Given is a guarantee is also bullshit because he barely played last season and spent a lot of time injured. I'm not saying that he wouldn't be good but there is no guarantees and everyone just seems to be wanting to splash cash everywhere. Are we the * huns?

keep hearing rumours of him coming up on loan thought him to villa was a done deal

  15. In all honesty, I think that would City's prefered option. If anything goes wrong with Hart, they could recall him assuming they don't sign another keeper this window.

  16. :56: :56: :56: :56: :56: :56:............that is all

  17. has he joined villa yet?

    (i hope not)

  18. Will be mightily impressed if Celtic are able to sign Given considering all the Premiership interest. Reckon however we will be priced out of the market.

  19. I think this is pure fantasy. There is no way he will come to Celtic to play in a * league for half the money. People need to fact up to it. Once a player is an established EPL player we are not going to be able to get them except by brutally expensive loan. I have always thought that the average standard of goalies is far higher on the continent than the UK. Lenny's tendency to be fixated on the English leagues and aging EPL stars does my head in a bit.
