  1. So if we had an billionaire backing us you don't think they would have signed? ££££££ IMO

  2. doesn't the option to buy mean City have to sell him to us if we offer the asking price? that wouldn't be ideal for them as you say. if hart is ropey (he won't be) then they're stuck with having to sell Given if he wants to go anyway. You're spot on though, it'll be a loan, nothing else.

  3. Put it this way would you rather have a million pounds or your seeing your family everyday, now you have to understand that all of the players we have been after have been getting massive wages so for them money is not as important as it is to us mere mortals

  5. to be honest from what i have been reading, looks rather interesting that arsenal say wages be a stumbling block, also that fulham and arsenal are looking at other keepers as replacements, this with the fact if goes on loan, man city wont loan him out to other epl teams, this with the fact, given hoops fan, played here, and also said he only has ill feeling to macari but not celtic fc, and we know man city would pay some of his wages to the loan deal. so it could be more promising than we first thought c'mon the hoops in lennon we trust

  6. "According to the Corriere Dello Sport, the two clubs have spoken on the phone about a deal for the Republic of Ireland stopper.
Given looks certain to exit Eastlands after Joe Hart took his place in goal last week at Tottenham.
He had previously warned he would leave if made second choice.
The Italian paper said City were looking to recoup 2-3 million euros for the 34-year-old."

    * if some italian club can buy him for 2-3million then is should give 4 million for him and we have an keeper that can play until 38-40 !

MANCHESTER CITY have blocked Shay Given from leaving Eastlands.

The dramatic move by City will leave the Republic of Ireland keeper fuming and disappoint the three clubs chasing him.

Given, 34, is desperate for first-team football and Celtic were keen to take him on a loan deal immediately, leading the hunt ahead of Fulham and Arsenal.

But the SPL giants will have to wait until the next window for Given, whose exit is being blocked by Brian Marwood, the City wheeeler-dealer who insists he cannot move anywhere.

Friends of the Irishman say he will ‘explode’ at the news and cause City the kind of major headaches they suffered from Craig Bellamy and Stephen Ireland.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon is desperate to get Given on board and the Parkhead club know the former Newcastle star is interested in a move.

Given is a Celtic fan, played for the club as a kid and has a Glasgow-born wife.

He was hoping to have the final say in the move and there was optimism that he would head over the border.

But now Given faces a few months of watching England No.1 Joe Hart perform before looking at his position again in the New Year.

Given made no secret of his interest in moving out, but City feel they are better with him in their squad and have turned down several approaches for potential replacement goalkeepers.

It is a crushing blow for Given, but there is little he can do and he will just have to knuckle down and pray City have a change of heart after Christmas.

  10. * sake... Think were still in with a chance though.

  11. Yes and we were 1/4 to get bellamy means nothing mate

  12. This looks dead now if city don't want him to leave that's it

  13. * man city,let given come to us !

  14. Watching Man City v Liverpool and Joe Hart is some keeper.

Understandable why Shay is on the bench. At least we'll know soon enough if he is coming to Celtic. Although after Forster perhaps now less likely.

  15. I doubt after signing a third keeper (Forster) Lennon will sign another, i really doubt it. I think Given will go to Fulham or Arsenal

  16. Mancini just indicated in the post match interview that Given wants to leave. Whether he does is another matter. Perhaps if we sign Given on loan, Zaluska's days will be numbered.
