I agree with you mate about the board maybe having a word with him.

I think we are in with a shout for shay,im not letting myself get too excited about the thought of him returning like i have before and we've lost out on the players. Hoping and praying we get him though.

Bellamy went because of his family, he even said why he didn't go to us (didn't even mention another club). Campbell, I'm not overly sure, but he did buy a house near Newcastle before he chose his club. James, again was family. Bullard didn't come because he was a greedy wee *. Non of them chose the championship over Celtic, they chose their family.
Just look at Ledley and Fortune, they had offers from the EPL but chose Celtic. We still are very appealing.

Hopefully Arsenal sign Schwarzer. Gets them out of the running for Given.

I have posted this before but in my opinion we have a real shout with getting Given assuming he is still keen on playing first team football and not just settling for a place on the bench with a weekly pay cheque.

Given could well be the marquee signing Celtic have the best chance of signing and what better position than to shore up the defence with a world class keeper.

Reasons why this deal can happen:

    1) Given is a Celtic fan
    2) He is unhappy as reserve keeper at Man City
    3) Like Bellamy, Man City are unlikely to farm him out to Premier rivals
    4) Celtic will compete for trophies
    5) He is unlikely to want to play for his hometown team in County Donegal
    6) What is the point of moving to a mid table Premier club (no trophy potential)
    7) If he moves to Celtic on loan, he picks up his Man City wages regardless
    8) European football, even if it is just Europa League (like Man City)
    9) Man City had already done a deal for Bellamy with Celtic, just change the name to Given!
    10) Apparently his wife is from Cumbernauld, just down the road from Lennoxtown (Celtic's training ground)
    11) Unfinished business at Celtic?

I have been impressed with Celtic's transfer dealings this summer in terms of backing Lennon's ambition and how they have been handled by Reid and Lawwell.

Now the relationship has been established with Man City regarding Bellamy, Celtic need to follow up and make a move for Given.

Two weeks to transfer deadline the race is on for his signature.

Reasons we are in with a shout,

    1) Given is a celtic man and has stated he wanted to play for us before retiring.

    2) With bellamy joining his boyhood team cardiff, this may make given think about coming back to parkhead

    3) Man city stated they did not want bellamy going to a rival side

    4) Man city apparently paid 60% of bellamys wages while he is on loan

    5) Lawall has been dealing with city recently and talks may have already taken place which gives us a headstart.

    Fingers crossed!!

Back pages in papers on SSN have Given leaving Man City after he is snubbed again for starting place.

True....but it would be easier to talk Shay out of joining Fulham than it would be Arsenal.

Whos to say McGeady never faked injury which is what i think he did. I think in his mind he played his 'last game at the end of last season and said his goodbyes and for him that was it......Maybe lennon did know he wasnt injured for talking sake, so you really think he would come out and say he just doesn't want to play an cause an awkwardness between mcgeady and the fans?

I can't see Shay going to Arsenal, it would be a crazy decision for Man City to strengthen a major rival's weakest position.

As long as Shay is willing to leave Man City I think Celtic must be in pole position for his signature. Come home Shay.
