Face it - we could get noone of his quality in the world for the reported £1 million (assuming its that).

Another potentially controversial point I have to make is - does playing for Celtic mean you HAVE to be a die-hard supporter and effectively throw cash away from your career for the sake of sentimentality? For me as a Celtic supporter obviously, but the boy's from Aberdeen....

he has 3 years or something left on his deal.

 

Well I've not been keeping 100% upto date with this rumour but I thought £1 million was the most often repeated quote?? If not how much?

No, I don't think anyone here has said players should forsake money or aspirations. But there's ways to leave and ways not to. He burned his bridges.

 

I believe there were rumors earlier of us sending them Naylor + 2m for him. I don't know where anyone has ever dreamed up 1m straight, but they're having a laugh.

 

1 million is quoted on message boards purely because thats what they paid for him... even though they could have waited 6 months and get him for nothing they paid celtic a compensation.

when the talks of naylor going there it was naylor plus 1million quid. so about 3million they want.

But we seem to be having real trouble taking in quality and I genuinely believe he is not far off McGeadys level at the moment and also gives us options from set pieces if Robson & Naka weren't available.

If its £4 million then thats not too bad a price OR £2 million + Naylor is a bargain!

Whats this talk of "ways to leave a club". What exactly did he do to "screw us over"? Played his cards for more money? What proffessional footballer doesnt do that to the club they're at? If they aren't haggling for the best price for their service they shouldn't be called proffessionals.

Bullshit......he left....if he came back would be good player.....he was good for us before he left and if he did came back i for 1 would be happy bout it....people make mistakes.....he deserves aother chance to show us what he can do! Give him that chance and am sure he wont dissapoint.

 

I'd Take him back, he was a kid being drilled in the ear by a greedy agent, made a bad decision and it has came back to haunt him, if he is wanting to turn around and return to Celtic, I'd say good on him as a lesser man would be too "Proud" or stubborn. Plus the fact that he would come back and booed a few times then he would have a great season and the so called Boo boys would forget all about his little stupid mistake his young and influenced by a greedy agent head made.

I mean come on, how many of you walked out of good jobs and apprentiships at a young age and now wish you didn't?

Every player haggles for more money. that includes mcmanus and mcgeady who signed new contracts recently & no one knew they were even in contract talks. the diffrence is maloney took it to the extreme and it ends up in the papers for 6 months. - with him apparently holding the club to ransom basically.
the talk of him moving to test himself in another league is laughable as at no point was that ever brought up by anyone. it was all about money.

I'd still take him back, but not for 4million.
for 4million i'd rather take a cheeky bid with mcfadden. - who we know would like to sign for us.

 

Wouldn't want him back for what he did. Jesus, the only way we'll get rid of this rumour is if Liverpool sign him for 20m.

Do we really need him, if he was an out n out striker then yes but hes not,
we need two defenders, midfielder with vision and a striker get tehm and we will continue to dominate scottish football for yrs to come

If this rumour is true I would have him back no probs.

Everyone is entitled to there on opinion but some of the * about Judas *,thought he was too good for Celtic,money grabbing wee *.If the people that were involved in his contract talks/transfer thought he acted like this then do you think they would even put in an offer.

Bottom line if he doesn't come back it is because PL and WGS don't want a wee money grabber etc.. onboard but if he does come back then there endorsment of him is good enough for me.Would welcome him back.
