Rangers And Celtic are set to battle it out for Newcastle starlet Shane Ferguson. The 17-year-old midfielder, who is rated as one of the brightest prospects on Tyneside, is out of contract at the end of the season and has already been watched on several occasions by the Old Firm duo. Ferguson, who has represented Northern Ireland at both Under-17 and Under-19 level, recently won his first Under-21 cap in a 3-1 victory over Scotland earlier this month.
And the Derry-born youngster's form could force Newcastle to hand the player a new deal before Rangers and Celtic come calling in January.

I don't give a * about his religious beliefe or nationality. A 17 year old player who already have got a U21 national cap sounds promising.
There's always a place for good prospects in the Celtic youth academy. -
Well said ChristianH, I care not for his religion or his second name. If he's a good player then we should be in for him.

This is mad, i played up front with him for a team called eglinton eagles in the derry and district league up until we wer 14 and he got spotted by newcastle. id say he would definitly rather go to celtic as 9 times out of 10 he would show up to training wearing his celtic jersey :icon_mrgreen: !

is he any good though? -
aye he was brilliant, easily best in the league!
but you cant compare a 14 year old playing in a local league with a move to celtic, i havent really seen him play since but hes been training with newcastles first team a few times and seems to be doing well. only thing is hes a bit small and doesnt look the strongest -
