I know alot of people are in the same unemployment boat as me but the good lady is due to have our first kid in august and when i lost my job in january i thought there is plenty of time,major underestimated just how hard it would be to find a job despite going through a P.T.S course as i thought there were loads of jobs in that industry,The mrs is still working despite being 7 months preggers which is quite * imo but i am seriously worried right now :54:

Cheers buddy we dont know if its a she or he yet but what i do kno is its gonna be * expensive!!! the P.T.S is a personal track safety ticket that allows you to work on the railways but still nothing doing with that,pure baws

 

i have been out of permanent work since 2010 m8 its hard to escape it :54: i am only 23 and (thanks to this pish) still live with my folks, i really feel for people like you m8!

 

My advice mate GO TO COLLEGE!!! just find something and go do it if you dont youll be like this for a good while,im now 32 and although have a mortgage and a crackin girl cannot find a job, Gonna need to resort to dealin or stealin me thinks :icon_mrgreen:

 

although i appreciate that this was said in jest, you raise a pretty good point. how many honest, hard working people have turned to a life of crime to provide for their families with the job scene being the way it is?

i know if i had a wife, kids and a mortage, and there was no work available for months on end, i'd resort to almost anything to provide for said family.

 

Not much else you can do but keep trying (on the job front) and keep calm (on the baby front). You can't do much more than keep doing your best., but I hope Ghod gies you a break soon M8.

If you are really desperate for cash, try house painting mate.You will have to have the nerve to g around the doors asking people if they want anything done.....but if you chap enough doors, you will get some work.
Im talking about eaves, windows, fences etc.....nothing that requires too much skill whereby you can sort of learn on your feet.If you do pick up a job that lasts a few days, chances are you will attract a neighbour from the street, so if and when you pick up a job......dont chap the rest of the doors in the street as you can do that when you have been on the job a while and the neighbours have had a chance to view you working.
If you are uncomfortable with the idea of chapping in your area.....go to another area.Hiring ladders for a few days is quite cheap, and if you do get work, you can then make an offer to the plant hire company to buy the ladders off them second hand.
Lastly, chap after tea time, but before Coronation Street.Its summer and there is work out there if you look for it.
PS....very affluent areas are generally bad to canvass.Spam valley areas are best, as working class people do tend to throw their money around more than wealthy people.
ie, Modern housing estates, (last 40 years)not established areas like Williamwood or Milngavie etc.

Price wise.....think out how long it would take you to paint a fence for example, and say give yourself £15 an hour.You will get it wrong sometimes with your time estimate, but you will learn with every job.
Dont do it with a mate....it only takes one of you to become negative for you both to quit.Dont tell anyone you are doing it until you are ready....just get a note pad and pen and pick an area and get out there mate.If you went out tonight and chapped doors from 6-7.30....you would get something.If you dont id be surprised.....and you will have only wasted an hour of your life.....and even then, you will learn something going around the doors!

 

btw: On the baby front. If/when you get into a panic, bear in mind wummin' have been giving birth for millions of years, so their bodies & brains have been built to deal with it. My 1st kid was born long ago at home - a grassy shelf in our cave - the delivery went really smoothly after I knocked her unconscious with a large wooden club and tied her inards to the tail of a stampeding hairy mammoth.

Aye there is a few even they bumpers dont reply as iv no experience with them mostly labouring construction/groundwork iv done but would consider most things............Within reason of course :icon_mrgreen:

do you know anyone who works on a rig?

i say this because to get out on a rig as a roustabout (general lacky) there are no formal qualification requirements. 9 times out of 10 they just take on people that current employees know as good workers. once you're there you could be asked to do anything from sweeping to unloading stores to cleaning toilets. it's a foot in the door though and if you work hard there are always chances at promotion as they prefer to promote from within.

long days, terrible shift patterns but your off for half the month and get a deadly wage into the bargain. worth thinking about if you know someone out there man.

 

i know how you feel i got made redundant as my wife fell pregnant for the second time she is due next month and i've only just got a job paying much much less then my last job.

what makes it worse is that i'd financially better off on * benefits by not taking on my new job which just shows how * up our nations benefit system is and how * our job market is.
