On the first point your assumption that I thought Ki had a good World Cup is actually wide of the mark. I did not see Ki's performances in the World Cup. I was merely highlighting the contrasting views of two different posters on Ki's performance, and making the distinction between the different type of pitches and stadiums in the two theatres of play.

Nobody is saying we don't need young players in the team. What I am saying is we need the right type of players in our side, and preferably for me that is midfielders who are not only good at controlling the flow and direction of play, but combine that with the ability to tackle and track back as well.It is quite possible to be able to see a young player's future potential after a relatively few games to the seasoned and experienced footballing eye. If bad and slack habits have been acquired by a footballer at an early stage, then they can be extremely difficult to remove later on,
even with the most intensive coaching.I just don't happen to see the potential in Ki that you obviously do, and we will just have to agree to disagree.

The bottom line for me is I want eleven players on that field for Celtic who will battle earnestly and honestly for the cause, and will not disappear from action when the going gets tough, no matter how talented or creative.Ki for me is a bottler and will never make it in the SPL.

As for McGeady yes he is a winger but he also plays the central midfield role as well at times.
Winger, central midfielder, they all play in the centre four. What's the difference ? What's your point caller ?

Ah come on you can hardly call McGeady a playmaker

he never sits back in midfield spraying passes around...its just not his game

My point is you say we played with 2 playmakers mcgeady and Nakamura...McGeady is not a playmaker

    Football Positions

    Playmaker
The playmaker can be found in the same area as the defensive midfielder but this is to enable better protection for the player himself, whose role is to influence his side’s attacking game. Comparable to a sweeper in midfield, the playmaker takes advantage of the extra support to spray passes up to the attackers and instigate quick offense.
A typical benchmark for the position is Spain’s Josep Guardiola, credited for developing the modern conception of a ‘playmaker’ as part of Johan Cruyff’s famous ‘Dream Team’ Barcelona side in the early-1990s.
    Notable playmakers
    • Josep Guardiola (Spain)
    • Andrea Pirlo (Italy)
    • Cesc Fabregas (Spain)
    • Xabi Alonso (Spain)

Flavius...yes I did make up some words and spell some wrong.....

As for the point on topic....what your talking about is a 40million pound player

Scholes cant tackle....he does allright for united and had a great partnership with Roy keane

what you need is balance in midfield between defence and attack...not every possible midfield attribute rolled up into one player.....

Ki is a good player, and can be part of a good celtic midfield

as for Ki dissappearing...when the going gets tough at celtic we play one and only one tactic......HOOF IT!!!!

Ki goes missing because he is a playmaker who turns defence into attack....he is getting bypassed by donkeys like Loovens hoofing the ball up the field

Having an opninon = Tell their players to GTF? Who only played like 10 games in Celtic? Shame.

    Give him a CHANCE.

Why are you guys being so harsh on Ki? I mean, Brown, Ledley, Maloney, Juarez were no better. But no one's mentioning those names. Especially Ledley.

i'd maybe like to see ki leave on loan, i think he looks like he can be a reat player for us but i think if we could put him out on loan to a team maybe even in the spl were he'll be guarenteed a start will help him get used to our league in the long term

I think ki would be better playing left of a 3 man midfield

    --------------kayal------------

    -----juaraz---ledley---ki-------

    -------------McCourt----------

    -------------hooper------------

but he may need to go on loan for a season until we get rid of brown

Nah, Ledley will play there. Ki doesnt really have any pace/strength to get down the line.

Him and Crosas should be fitting for the central playmaker role. Think both of them will be excellent there if there is a strong defence behind them.

Ledley may very well play there but ki has pace,( more than ledley).

You need more strength playing in the middle than outside, which ledley has over ki, so, on this basis if ki plays this position would suit the team better.

Personally, I think ledley will only be with us for a few seasons in any case.

I largely agree with this. I'm new here but I've been watching Ki for a very long time and he is definitely subpar when it comes to defense. Lennon needs to strengthen up the defense or put Ki in an attacking role. The best way to use him as a playmaker is to have a strong defense provide him with possession so that he can pass upfield to open space. If the defense cannot be strengthened, he should be put in as an attacking midfielder to distribute, play one twos, or take daring shots.

Looked good against Arsenal and the best i have seen him. Looked prepared to get stuck in too ! With a run of games you can see his confidence growing, but think we still need a proper holding mid.
