Can't wait to see him at Celtic Park with a good pitch and the crowd behind him.

Agreed, his creativity would have made a massive difference against Kairat, I think we get 2 or 3 goals at home if he starts

I know it's early in his career, but Sebastian Tounekti’s looking every inch a Celtic winger, in a throwback sense. He's a guy that takes people on, and you were talking about his numbers and everything, but he excites the crowd?

Oh, yes, he excites me every time he gets the ball, and that's what we were desperate for in the team.

So, he's come in and been really aggressive. He's a really talented boy because he can go either way, and also, not only that, he can run in behind. You see the number of times he makes runs.

Sometimes he doesn't get it, sometimes he does, but he's running off the ball as well. So, I'm really excited for where he is and where we can bring him to. But importantly, supporters will love watching him because he's so exciting.

Because that tradition is something to be embraced, isn't it?

I think that when you come here and you look through the history of this club, it's littered with amazing wingers, and that's the football we play. The DNA of this club is based on attacking football, and that is with wingers on the side of the pitch that can take people on, beat people.

And every time he gets the ball, you just sense the excitement, and that's what we need on both sides.

Genuinely everything about him screams Jota, even down to his mannerisms.

Jota seems to have a little less pace but more quality in the final ball is all.

I don’t want to get too carried away but he may be the best footballer I’ve ever seen.

Brendan Rodgers admits to being disappointed at not getting Sebastian Tounekti in time for Celtic's Champions League play-off against Kairat Almaty.

The Parkhead club had a questionable transfer window and that has led to protests from fans, which contonued at today's cup win over Partick Thistle.

They faced the Kazakhstani side in Champions League qualifying before the closure of the window and had failed to complete their business before then, therefore missing much-needed firepower as they crashed out on penalties after failing to score across two legs.

Tounekti was one of the players signed following that and before the window closed. The Tunisian winger has impressed since his move from Hammarby and was on form again today, getting on the scoresheet.

    Rodgers raved about post-match.

He's so good," he told Premier Sports. "He's got a bit of everything really. He can beat a man, he can run without the ball, can go either way. He can slip the runners in as well and and it's nice for him to get his goals.

"It's one of the things I said when he came in, he needs to improve his goals. A bit like Nicolas Kuhn and these guys, they they need to get into areas and and be really hungry to score.

"He took it well. It was really good, lovely touch behind. He links the game well and yeah, it was a good finish."

Asked if that made him frustrated to not have the 23-year-old available for Kairat, he added: "Well, I think we all have seen that and I think everyone understands that, the board, us, everyone. But you can't look back, we have to look forward and learn from that."

He's a gem of a player, we would definitely have beat Kairat if we had him in on time.

Looks a talent and the sort of winger we love to have here.
Him and Jota are gonna be interesting left wing options, however knowing how we operate - we won't buy a right winger and instead push Jota out there.
We will also completely burn out Tounekti in the next 4 months by forcing every attacking play down his side, to the point when he doesn't produce, half the fans will get on his back and will be calling for him to be dropped no doubt.

Same usually happens when we get a new player who looks half decent at set pieces, we cream about it, then about 6 weeks in after watching him take every single set piece, we switch to thinking he is *, because we don't score 6 goals from set piece every game.

Nygren, Engels, Turnbull, there's always someone

We are going to love this guy. We’ll sell him for £25 million in 3 years time and just fail to get his replacement over the line on deadline day forcing us to play 48 year old James Forrest on the left at the start of the season

Jota played on the right loads under Ange, particularly after we signed Daizen. Tounekti if he continues like this is a nailed on starter on the left. Jota then on the right. The beauty being both can rotate mid game if necessary and give full backs something to think about.

Brendan Rodgers is excited by the impact that Sebastian Tounekti has had since arriving in Glasgow, saying that he has the ‘DNA’ of a traditional Celtic winger.

The Tunisian got his first goal for his new club in the thumping League Cup quarter final win over Partick Thistle that has set up a mouthwatering semi-final clash against city rivals Rangers at Hampden in early November.

Over and above his strike, the 23-year-old impressed with his direct running and trickery on the ball, and when asked if he was pleased to see that the Celtic fans are excited by his play, Rodgers said: “Oh, yes, he excites me, every time he gets the ball and that's what we were desperate for in the team.

“He's come in really aggressive. He's a really talented boy because he can go either way and also, not only that, he can run in behind.

“You see the numbers of times he makes runs. Sometimes he doesn't get it, sometimes he does, but he's running off the ball as well.

“I'm really excited for where he is and where we can bring him to. But importantly, supporters will love watching him because he's so exciting.

“I think that when you come to here and if you look through the history of this club, it's littered with amazing wingers and that's the football we play.

“The DNA of this club is based on attacking football and that is with wingers on the side of the pitch that can take people on, beat people.

“Every time he gets the ball, you just sense the excitement and that's what we need on both sides.

“Obviously, they [Thistle] looked to come and press early in the second half and then we were able to play through that. Sebastian has made a great impact since he's come in. He's got great speed, and is really good in the one v one [situations].”

Rodgers has now challenged Tounekti to add a consistent goal threat to his game.

“I'm glad for Seba [to get his goal] because that's one area, when I spoke to him before he came in, I felt we can improve his game,” he said.

“Because for him to keep progressing, he's got big talent, but he needs to add numbers to his game.”

My fear is he will be in the Tunisia squad to play at AFCON 25.
