I think the striker will be out of the blue, nobody we've been linked with. Well I think we'll get Milos Lacny but I think we'll bring in a £2-3million striker.

That shows you being an internationalist doesnt say a lot when its wee countries like Scotland and Ireland. McManus has actually played some very good games for Scotland but I think that is because he is slow and the usual sitting deep and defending desperately thing Scotland often end up doing suits players like McManus (and O'Dea for that matter) who have no pace. I really think pace is the crucial element for a CB at Celtic if Mowbray wants to play a high line and attack a lot. We do not have that at all at present. Loovens is our most pacey CB! Next fastest is probably Caldwell with O'Dea and McManus having serious lead boots. I also noticed JFK had lost a lot of his (once decent) pace through all these injuries before he retired. Not one of them is really suited to a high line. If Mogga wants to play that way we need two new CBs.

see if he is valued at 3-4m? and if celtic really want him? and can afford him?? why dont they just pay the * money instead of embarresing us with a petty 1.75m? to me thats telling me he isnt as good a defender as being made out.and therefore waiting till his contrsct runs out in the summer we should get him now if he is worth it of course.

I've been impressed by him everytime I've seen him. Ideally I'd like to see us bring him in with a more experienced centre-half like, for talking sake, Senderos in beside him to help him along.

I remember seeing St Ledger on a sky 1 programme 'Big Ron Manager' and his attitude stank. Hopefully he's grown out that now though considering this was 3-4 years ago. I think he's worth a shot. He wont be any worse than the 3 centre halves we have playing right now

RON Atkinson insists Sean St Ledger is not a troublemaker and swears he would be a massive hit at Celtic.
The Irish stopper was a raw 22-year-old when he featured in a warts-and-all TV documentary series, Big Ron Manager.
Screened in 2006, it followed the experiences of former Manchester United and Aston Villa manager Atkinson after he was drafted in by chairman Barry Fry to trouble-shoot at Peterborough.
In one programme, St Ledger was sent to train on his own after adressing-room bust-up with team-mates Mark Arber and Paul Carden.
The player was accused of showing disrespect to then boss Steve Bleasedale but last night Atko said: "Sean has grown up a lot since then.
"I always say if you get a player who gets a bit uppity just give him a crack and he would appreciate that style of management.
"I would never have one ounce of problems with Sean if he was my player.
"Celtic would be getting an international defender of repute and a big club such as that would suit this boy down to the ground."
It could take a bid of more than £4million to prise St Ledger from Preston but Atkinson reckons Celtic would get more than their money's worth if they forked out.
He believes they would be signing a player cut from the same cloth as his hero, former Republic of Ireland, Man United and Villa star Paul McGrath.
Atkinson said:"I watched Sean play for the Republic against France in the World Cup play-offs and he was the outstanding player.
"When a manager of Giovanni Trappatoni's stature picks him repeatedly for his country, you know you have a player on your hands.
"Under Trappatoni Sean has shown what a fine performer he is.
"He is my kind of player and can play anywhere in defence but I would put him in midfield as he has so much energy.Hecan run for fun and he would be wasted at the back.
"He is an old-fashioned player who will train all day and play all day.
"Sean is a manager's dream and when he steps on to the field he will give you 200 per cent.
"He is football daft and his big hero is McGrath and he has modelled his game on him.
"I spoke with Sean and he does not want to sign for Middlesbrough. Celtic would be great for him."

Would you be happy if they payed 4m for him and then we couldn't afford any other players?

    I wouldn't.

Preston apparently need the cash, saw a quote from their chairman a month or so back, talking about their lack of revenue and how he would always sell to avoid what happened to Southampton, happening to them.

Pretty sure he has more that six months left

He must have more than 6 months, He was agreed to join Borough for 3.5 million if both parties were happy after the loan, it seems a bit steep if he available in 6 months for nothing and if preston are struggling financially.

£3.5 million. I'd rather spend that on your Durica, Hubocan,Ottesen and Stranzl's of this world.
