I wouldn't pay 3 for him anyway but I have liked him the few times I've seen him.

Hes looked a good solid defender who can chip in with goals from set pieces. Hes at a good age and highly rated.

I would take him. Then we can also sign Kilgallon on a pre contract so for next season that would make a strong CB partnership.

Its hard to tell who would make a solid CB partnership. The most unlikely candidates can at times.

All I know is that he's the type of a CB who likes more to intercept play, than intimidate with size, and that he plays on the right side. This means we need a left-sided gigantic CB to partner him.

3mill may seem a lot but as mentioned the board have to weigh up the potential sell on figure of a player in his infancy but playing regular international football with eire if he signs and improves and also goes on to be capable in europe in the market down south you could easily double or treble the initial signing fee easy its just whether or not mogga can convince the likes of lawwell and desmond to back him and sanction the funds but if mogga dosent get the backing of the board i dont think he'll be happy to hang about for long he aint a lapdog like strachan was in those terms. unfortunately we are now a selling club like it or not any players we sign for a significant fee must have a sell on value well above the outlay for him. gets right on my * thats what we've become but c'est la vie

Unfortuntely we dont have enough income to allow us to make gambles on future sell on fees when going for players. we need to sign players who we think can definitely do a job.

MON and wgs were backed by the board. They spent millions each over their time.

every signing any club makes is a gamble whether its ronaldo or ronald villiers its the managers discretion and whether or not the board trust the man they employed judgement no question martin was well backed because he came with a reputation and the club had to make assurances to him as he was well coveted down south (remember leeds utd wanted him when they had a bit of money to spend, also he was desmonds choice so was always gonna have the owners ear!!) strachan on the other hand sold players to make his transfer kitty up i read somewhere he spent £28m in 4 years but also in that time he sold players to the value of £16m so to say he and martin shared finances is not fair. ther isnt a player we can honestly sign where you say to yourself he's definately gonna be superb case in point gravesen evry fan almost to a man thought we had a player that would run the spl and how wrong where we? we have no choice we gotta sign players who obviously first and foremost can do a job but also be young enough so as to improve them and sell them on mogga hasnt mentioned st ledger as far as im aware but if we sign him it will be because mogga believes he has enough quality to become a good player for us from then on its up to the player to prove him right but no manager signs a player only on the basis that in 3 years he can double his money any belief in that is absurd

in the current transfer market £3mill is bargain basement just look at the prices that have been paid for the services of vidic, ferdinand, vermaeland and lescott. He is still a bit raw but you can either buy the tried and tested(out of our reach) or buy the ones showing potential.

Strachan spent plenty...he wasted plenty too. MON had to sell players as well.

I never suggested any manager sings a player with a view to selling him on. Some others have suggested it though..

I am not convinced by what I have seen of St Ledger to date. He made a lot of blunders in the international against Cyprus, and he was responsible for the two goals conceded to Blackpool when playing for Middlesborugh.

We have enough bombscares at the back just now without adding to them.

Good point, stick a fork in that rumour for January then.

The tabloid journalists are getting extremely lax nowadays they must think we button up the * back.

Not sure if this guy is the answer, I watched him a few times when he's been very good, however he's also made some basic mistakes in other games.

Probably better than any of the CB we currently have, but I would go above £2 mil.

Looks like darren ferguson arriving might put a spanner in the works :31:

New Preston manager Darren Ferguson could call a halt to defender Sean St Ledger's planned move to Celtic. (Daily Record)

I still reckon we'll go for him though

I'm pretty sure short term loans don't count towards that number.
