Have we ever had a player miss so many genuine sitters in one season?

Over the last month or so he has missed alot of good chances and hope next season he will start putting them away.

SCOTT Sinclair sought out Stiliyan Petrov, who was training alongside him at Aston Villa in a brave, but ultimately forlorn, attempt to resurrect his playing career, as soon as he learned that Brendan Rodgers was keen to take him to Celtic last summer.

Sinclair, who had struggled to perform at his best as a poor Villa side were relegated from the Barclays Premier League last season, knew that Petrov had played at Parkhead earlier in his career and was keen to gauge his opinion on the prospective transfer.

The Bulgarian emphasised to him he would be playing in some less glamorous surroundings than he had become accustomed to in the English top flight if he agreed to the move. “I told him up in Scotland you will find yourself in dressing rooms where you are not even able to put your bags down because they are so small,” he said.

The former midfielder, though, predicted that he would love the experience and urged him to jump at the opportunity that awaited him in Scotland. He has monitored his spectacular campaign closely since and was delighted to find he had been proved right when they met up in Glasgow at the weekend.

“I spoke with him and he couldn’t speak highly enough about Celtic, the club and the fans,” said Petrov. “It’s his first season here and he has been blown away by it. He’s won everything and the fans love him. When you do it for a club like this you are adored.

“I’m not surprised at how good Scott Sinclair has been for Celtic. I had the pleasure of doing pre-season with Scott last year and you can see the quality that won him a move to Manchester City.

“He hadn’t played that regularly for Aston Villa when Celtic came calling. There were a lot of questions in his head because a lot of other clubs were in for him, but Brendan Rodgers played a big role.

“He was asking me questions about the football, the stadiums he will be playing in. I explained to him that he won’t be impressed by them, but he will be impressed by the fans, the club, and now he thinks it’s the best place he has played.

“As I say, some of the grounds are tiny. But you know what? When you go out you will always have thousands of very passionate Celtic fans wanting you to win. Now when I speak to him he says I was right.”

Sinclair endured a few difficult seasons after moving to Manchester City in an £8 million transfer in 2012 and was loaned out to both West Brom and Aston Villa, who he ended up moving to, after failing to hold down a first team place at the Etihad Stadium.

Petrov, who became a youth coach at Villa two years ago after being forced to retire from playing due to leukaemia, feels the former Swansea City man just needed the right manager to bring out the best in him and is pleased he has now got that having been reunited with Rodgers.

“I don’t think he was lost, he just wasn’t given a proper chance,” he said. “He would be in the team for one game and then he would be out of it again.

“Players like Scott are confidence players and they need to play every week. Brendan Rodgers knows that and he’s handed him a big role. Brendan has known how to use him perfectly.”

It cost Celtic a cool £3.5 million to land Sinclair and the player is also one of the highest earners, if not the highest earner, at Parkhead. But his transfer fee and the weekly wage he receives are dwarfed by the sums splashed out on players down south and the salaries they command.

One thing I will say about Hayes signing is it will take the burden off of Sinclair, certainly domestically as he played so many game's and done a power of running..

I think you could see it as the final week's drew to a close that he was becoming less effective and squandering chances he'd of put away easily a month or two before even..

Hopefully it's Hayes or someone to come in and play when Sinclair needs a rest as Johnston who I like, probably isn't reliable to do it consistently if Sinclair did pick up an injury..

Definitely mate, became frustrating as * watching him as you knew he had basically run himself in to the ground over the course of the season but still kept trying to put in 110%. Sometimes the easy option is the best.

That being said, cannae wait to see a refreshed Sinky taking the pish out of whole back lines in the qualifiers. So confident with guys like him going in this season.

Yep, not only was it frustrating for us watching but he himself looked equally as frustrated and probably knew he was burnt out..

Yep, him not being an International player is brilliant for us as well as he really does get a decent break to recharge. I expect him to come back excellent and be vital to us negotiating our qualifiers. Paddy back Astana away style wouldn't go a miss either..

I don't think we'll sign a 3rd striker Scott will just play there if required, with Hayes coming in to the team

The best thing him about him not being in the England squad is we don't need to see him in an England shirt!

IN the year that Celtic has won the treble, dance group Scooter has been at the forefront of that journey.

For the Hoops supporters have adopted their ramped up version of The Logical Song for striker Scott Sinclair.

Despite the anthem becoming a favourite amongst football fans, the German group admit, however, they had no idea about its resurgence.

And they are bound to be in for a surprise when the crowd goes crazy at their show at the Braehead Arena on June 10.

"Honestly I personally did not know that The Logical Song is a big anthem in Scotland," said the band's Phil Speiser.

He added: "We will play it for sure and I am really excited to see the reaction."

It's hard to believe but Scooter will celebrate their 25th anniversary soon having formed in Hamburg in 1993.

The happy hardcore group, who also feature vocalist H P Baxxter and DJ Michael Simon, have sold over 30 million records and are considered the most successful German single-record act with 23 top ten hits.

Part of that group is Austrian-born producer Phil, who believes their success is down to constantly reinventing themselves.

He said: "Our success is about reinventing ourselves again and again. We always keep ourselves going forward and listen to what other people are doing, and what the current trends are. We take in a little bit and use it for our production."

He added: "But we are still ourselves and we try not to be somebody else."

It would be difficult for that Scooter sound to be anything other than unique from the heavy techno beat to H P Baxxter's unique voice, it is easy to see why fans have followed them for more than two decades.

"I think the important thing for us is to always develop and not just rest with the old hits," explained Phil.

He continued: "We have to try to reinvent ourselves and always be on the top. That’s the challenge so that people can always get new music that they can enjoy and it is not just like good memories. We want to create new good memories."
