I've went in deep because you're drawing false equivalencies between the 2. They are completely different situations.

Balde signed a deal that was on the table, remained professional throughout and was looking after his own interests which he was completely entitled to do.

Sinclair signed a deal giving us the option to extend his contract by a year if we wanted to, he agreed to those terms. We've taken it up because we can get a 7-figure sum for him, which we're completely entitled to do. Celtic have been as good for Sinclair as he has been for Celtic.

I doubt Lennon would come out and publicly state he was actively trying to punt Sinclair but I'm fairly confident he will have spoken to him privately about the matter.

We've got him upto speed during pre-season, given him game-time and got him ready to hit the ground running at his next club.

What was the club that supposedly wanted to give Baldock in exchange for Sinclair? I'd rather that...a player loaned to Aberdeen doesn't seem great at first glance.

So was he made aware he was signing an extension for us to get a fee? Because you must be privy to that info to make such bold statements about his treatment. Which has been *.

We’ve gave him game time and got him up to speed as if we’re doing charity work for a pillar of the treble treble :56:

Contractually we didn't have to tell him that was the intention at that point. We simply had to notify him we would be taking up the option and his salary then increased to the enhanced rate agreed in 2016.

From a moral standpoint you could argue that we should have told him it was our intention, it would be all supposition on our part to say if that's happened or not but I'd like to think it has. Lennon seems like the type that certainly would speak individuals to let them know where they stood.

I wasn't suggesting it was charity work but you're framing it as if Lennon has turned into Judas Iscariot and planted a kiss on Sinclair's cheek to let Lawwell know he should take him away.

Letting a potential 7-figure asset walk out the door for nothing simply because he's played his part in a highly successful team for us would be insane. If his fee goes towards funding a replacement that Lennon thinks is better-suited, why wouldn't we do it?

We have been as good for Sinclair both financially and career-wise as he has been for Celtic with his outstanding goal return & contribution the last 3 years.

Is there any solid rumours of him actually leaving? Football insider is not a reliable source in the slightest.

He's an important player to have in the squad even though he's been incredibly frustrating the last two years, his goal record is fantastic and him and Johnston rotating would leave us strong in that position, if we sell him now it'll be a pain in the * getting another winger in.

I think it was pretty clear we triggered his year to punt him..

He wasn't getting a game when Lenny came in and was never gonna get a trigger to be our highest earner at 30, no getting a game and being a shadow of his first year's form....to then actually staying..

I'm sure Sinclair has known our intentions and that he'd be sold this window..

My feelings have been clear for a long time but he's never publicly spat the dummy out and has always spoke well. I wish him well wherever he goes and the likelihood is he'll have an immediate bounce impact...as he has done almost everywhere he's been..

For me though, he lost his confidence and mojo a long time ago, and despite his number's still being high....he has been on a steady decline, contributing less and less to our actual build up play..

Just making the point that if Johnston continues to play at the level and with the promise he has shown, it might make sense to move on an older player who commands a far higher wage and who only had around a year left on his deal.
I like sinclair, he is lethal on his day. I wouldnt be opposed to keeping him.

Imagine he doesn’t get his move and the offer of the new contract blows back in Lawwell face!

    In derby apparently.

I think with the Max Lowe link we had agreed a swap deal but then pulled out this morning.

Probably after seeing Morgan last night!

I think Lawwell will be quite comfy with the risk. I'm not a fan of Sinclair - I want him to go - but even I'd be content to have him around for another year if it's only costing us his wages. One and a half million doesn't get you much these days, and would be fine for Sinclair as a back-up.

Nah we have a left back lined up elsewhere. Sinclair if going will be for cash.

With KT gone, Max Lowe would be a * of a signing. I only wasn't interested before because we had KT. IMHO opinion he was by far the best non-Celtic player in the league last season.

We should definitely at least ask.

Lot of ifs and buts. I agree MJ has looked tremendous this close season but he had a twinge and kissed the Cluj game and Morgan was the alternative(who played poorly) True, these players won’t gamer better unless they get game time but if MJ gets injured and is out longer we don’t appear to have many options as Shved seems to be made of glass also.
