If other side of Glasgow are our competition then I'll not get excited by replacement. We should be bringing in players out with the reach of those *

Drove me * nuts at times but unless we've got a quality replacement lined up (we won't) then letting him go is a massive mistake.

Absolutely nowhere near what happened to Balde.

We gave him a £32k per week deal that he gladly signed and when Lawwell wanted to start slashing the wage bill Balde was high on the list of priorities. No-one was going to pay him that sort of salary, he was entitled to sit on it and was professional throughout.

With Sinclair we had the option to watch a multi-million pound asset walk out the door for free or take up our year's option and get some money into the club for a replacement that Lennon fancies. It's a no-brainer.

He's been a good servant, I'm positive Lennon would've been honest with him throughout, he's been bagging £35k per week for the last 11 weeks and will no doubt get a decent signing-on fee at his new club. It's exactly how I'd expect us to do business.

Wonder how much a 20 goal a season winger would cost us to replace him. I think he'll be a loss despite his poor form at times he's a goal scorer.

I find it scandalous that a player like Sinclair can just be thrown on the scrapheap like this.

And I'm not just referring to the fact he's scored 25,18 and 17 goals in the last three treble treble seasons.

It's the fact that he's been a fantastic servant to the club. Never once has he came out complaining about being dropped. Not even when he wasn't getting game time. He's always been ready to play, coming on off the bench. He's only turned 30, and he's a young 30 in terms of pace and agility.

And he was overlooked last night in a huge qualifying match for a young kid, who's done nothing for this club and did nothing last night and now he's been pushed out the door.

And why? All because he's a high earner and the board need to cut wages. He's a * high earner because he's scored 63 goals in 3 seasons, including countless old firm goals.joke

Loved the guy from day 1, has been a great servant to the club and managed some amount of goals from the left.
For me he just hasnt looked that interested over the past 6 months to a year... I also like MJ a lot and want him to start anyway, but would have kept Scotty as back up. But if we can cash in on him and use3 the money wisely then we should be fine.

Also not going along wit this crap that were just shunting players to the side and trying to get rid of them, I feel there was a lengthy conversation had with Lenny during pre season.

It couldn’t be any more similar to the Balde situation.

Both signed a contract extension on big wages, shortly afterwards both wanted out by the club.

The only difference is we haven’t had Sinclair sitting in the stand for a prolonged period, yet, whilst inferior players play in front of them.

Surely this numpty wasn't a target? If he was its time to start panicking folk...

As for Sinclair I think his treatment has been disgraceful but that's football, it's a business with no room for sentiment...see also KT

I really hope we dont sell him , why would we ? To get him of the wage bill ? Richest club with a poor team on the park..His replacement is hopeless(Morgan) ..A champions league game and we leave him at home to discuss him leaving..Is Lennon just a nodding dog to the board ? He didnt even know about Tierney update..I think Lennon has been so happy to the job he is getting walked over the top of without putting up a fight ..

I can't understand that logic at all.

Sinclair's extra year option was taken up by the club with the sole intention of bringing in a fee for him.

Balde signed a stupidly generous long-term deal with us under MoN, then continued to be first choice CB for Strachan's 1st season until injury ruled him out. Beyond then it was in Strachan's remit to bring the wage bill down and Balde had a target on his back because of that. He was frozen out of the team but never acted unprofessionally or spat the dummy. In fact he was called upon to come in to play v Dundee United when we had an injury crisis and we chalked up our first away clean sheet in over a year and he won MoTM....before being dropped again.

The 2 situations are miles apart.

Love how the mood towards Sinclair has completely changed now.

6 months ago most folk in here would have been glad to see the back of him.

Now there is an outcry of him being mistreated.

Absolutely no doubt did he know he wasn't Lennon's first pick and he will have known the extension being triggered was simply to get money for him.

He's been a great servant to the club, brought in by the snake and was played far more than he should have been at times (when his goals and assists were cold). He doesn't fit what Lennon wants to do and that's understandable.

I doubt he has any hard feelings towards the club, if anything he will be grateful for the success he has had and the love he has received from the fans (when half of them decided he was good enough )

I still believe that the time has come for him to move on, but I thought that the club would have brought in a replacement for him by now - that would have been sensible. Recognising that we are weaker with only Johnston as a viable option in that position doesn't make you fickle.

Birmingham did and then the big man hit out with the famous quote to pistol pete:

You,” he told Lawwell, “are chief executive of Celtic Football Club, I am the chief executive of Bobo Balde.”

We shouldn’t have even triggered his option.

We should’ve been concentrating on signing a new left winger instead of now waiting around incase Sinclair leaves.

Why wouldn't we trigger the option, if he hangs around for the season he can still contribute even if he's not playing as much, or he goes and we get a fee for him, the board would have got pelters if we let him leave on a free and rightly so.

Mikey Johnston is going to be a top player and has already shown he has a lot of talent despite his relatively young age.
