The only people struggling are the ones moaning about this, there’s a difference between voicing your opinion and just being a fickle little * about something that could pay off for us. “Fucktard” is being kind.

The first two questions you answered yourself if enough to warrant the extension. He’s had bad games, as the team have had bad games. As we improve he will. I’m not saying we will have 16/17 Sinclair, but we will have someone who can contribute on and off the field during one of the biggest squad transitions in a while. We need him.

Yes we can afford it. That’s why they’ve triggered it. They wouldn’t have done it if we couldn’t.

So many accountants in this forum, some coincidence.

Feels wrong that our highest paid player is/should be a sub.

What's the point in coming on a football forum if you're that close-minded that you can't read someone else's perspective without giving it the big "I'm right, you're wrong, you're a fucktard"?

ps. You don't have to be an accountant to understand in simplistic terms the economics of a football club.

I just said it’s not opinions I have a problem with.

It’s the people who are, like you say, too close minded to even comprehend how valuable Sinclair could possibly be for us. Something you’re ignoring.

So you know better than the people actually in charge of our club? Do you realise how idiotic it is to say that we can’t afford something, when we quite obviously can?

Resign Henrik Larsson he's been great for us in the past and might even manage a goal in the CL qualifiers. If you don't agree with this you are a fucktard and a brain no bigger than a pea.

its cheaper than buying a replacement and considering the amount of players leaving in the summer it makes financial sense to keep him there another season even if its inflated wages

The only person who should be caring what he is paid is Peter Lawwell. It is neither here nor there when deciding if he is a good enough player for us.

If you want to be the ‘Wages Policeman’ then I’m sure there are plenty of discrepancies within the squad. You could be here all day.

Ironic. I've listed above that he's undoubtedly contributed to our success in previous seasons but his contribution to our success is on the slide. He has 1 goal and 0 assists in his last 11 appearances for us. Value is subjective, it's my personal opinion that we should be getting more from a player when we're laying out £30k per week. You disagree, that's fine,

Did I say that? A football forum is about giving our opinions, I'm giving mine.

Okay, if you want to be semantic then we can afford to pay Sinclair £30k a week, it's not going to bankrupt us. However in the challenging financial environment we find ourselves in where we find ourselves competing with teams that have budgets that blow ours out the water, maximising value for every £ we spend is important.

If you don't think we could bring in a player who could consistently perform better than Sinclair then again that's your prerogative. I won't call you idiotic for holding that opinion but I do think it's a very pessimistic outlook and I'd imagine you're in the minority.

Take his numbers out and it's a huge hole to plug.

Some of his performances have been a disgrace tho.

No one in here or in the Celtic support does not appreciate the contribution that Scott Sinclair has made for us over the past 3 years, he has scored and been involved in a number goals some of which were very important and in his first season he was at times very special to watch, when he leaves he should be well thanked for the service he has given us and the doors of Parkhead are always open to him.

That being said, since October 2017 he has been far far to inconsistent and has barely shown any of his first season magic in terms of driving at players and beating them with absolute ease, yes he has still contributed with some goals but just because he has scored doesn't mean he is playing well, he is a Celtic winger playing as an inside forward id be disappointed if any Celtic Winger particularly one playing as an inside forward wasn't scoring goals. The vast majority of games Sinclair has been a shadow of his former self and in many he has contributed sweet * all, he hides from the ball and when he gets it he doesn't go at people with pace like he did in his first season, he tends to slow it down then trys to cut inside by which point there are 10 men behind the ball. He is our best payed player and yes he has a number of goals but you are all kidding yourselves if you think Scott Sinclair is contributing 35k worth of performance each week he simply isn't how many of our moves die when he gets the ball? Far too many, for 35k a week we should be looking at someone who is affecting the game pretty much every game he is playing and that doesn't have to be just goals and assists but someone who takes the ball forward and drives us a team onto the next level, Sinclair does not do this and you dont get free passes because you had a class first season because lets be honest he hasn't hit the heights of his first season since.

If he left we would have to find a replacement for his goals but we would have a wedge of money saved to do so and ffs we are Celtic if we cant find a way to beat teams without Scott Sinclair then we should pack it in, hopefully we start playing more attacking and attractive football which leads to more goals and maybe a 2 striker formation which may help naturally replace them, but his performances have been extremely poor borderline embarrassing for quite a while now and the odd goal here or there doesn't hide that face, for 35k a week I expect a player who is going to help take us further in Europe and be the focal point of our team, Scott Sinclair does neither.

Regardless of whether or not we can afford it, there's definitely better ways of spending £30k a week.

    I’ll repeat myself.

This is the biggest and most important squad transition in years for us. Tying Sinclair down to an extra year for some stability in the Champions League qualifiers especially is a complete and utter no brainer.

9/10 I respect the opinions of others in here, but in this instance anyone disagreeing with my above statement is just wrong I’m afraid.

What’s pessimistic about backing a player and seeing the good in something the club has done? It’s literally the opposite. I’ve not even mentioned our ability to get someone else in, so you’re making assumptions to back your argument. I back him to prove his worth in those qualifiers, I’ll tell you that now and we can come back to this.
