He's starting because our only other options are Morgan and Johnston, and neither of them are really good enough yet. Albeit, I would rather see them get a chance than Sinclair.

Whether being on form or not does not dictate whether someone is a “squad player” for me. Squad players are useful
players and are important for the team but do not have the out and out ability to play consistently in big games in my opinion.

That is not the case for Sinclair in my opinion. He has proven to be a big game player, even this season.

The same could be said for any player in the team. If McGregor or Rogic or Edourard went off form for a few weeks, do they automatically become squad players using that rationale?

Nah, I was seeing if you’d put Christie or McGregor in there tbh :56:

It isn’t nonsense, how can a guarenteed starter spend as much time as he has when he’s been fit over the last year? He isn’t supposed to be a squad player but that’s the role he’s been playing for us.

I’m not saying he hasn’t done well, I’m saying over the last year he has been a squad player for us.

Could easily play McGregor out left too.

    Gordon
    Lustig Boyata Benkovic Tierney
    Brown Ntcham
    Forrest Rogic McGregor
    Edouard

That’s likely our starting XI when all fit but I wouldn’t class Ajer, Christie (now), Sinclair and Griffiths as squad players, I’d say they’re more like rotational first teams plers.

Jozo, Gamboa, Eboue, Mulumbu, Morgan etc are the ones I’d call squad plers.
    Don’t @ me.

It depends if it’s more than a few weeks mate, I think this has pretty much been a solid year for Sinclair. I don’t disagree with your opinion of him.

Alex Ferguson would disagree with that squad players and big games btw, prctically what Park Ji Sung was for him.

I’ll concede he was dropped to being a squad player last season, due to his own form. But last season is irrelevant and I’d still laugh at anyone saying he’s a squad player at best.

I’d have McGregor over Christie, but right now I’d have both starting.

Maybe we’re just disagreeing on a definition, mines is if you’re in and out the team, off the bench, occasionally get a run of games. Squad player.

Over who? Brown or Ntcham being the squad players just now?

Not in the slightest. What's hilarious is people saying a winger, and one of our highest earners for that matter, with 5 goals from open play since mid-December 2017 is playing well and playing consistently. It's complete bollocks.

It's not the fact that some have been penalties. Almost half of them have been penalties. 3 out of 8 in the last year in fact.

    It's rank rotten.

Which would change the structure of the team and move McGregor, who is playing very well, to a position he's less effective in. Not a great option.

He’s been playing well this season. I agree that he played poorly the second half of last season.

Fair enough. Completely disagree, but we're going round in circles.

I’d be happy to leave Ntcham out just now.

    Obviously not.

Sinclair has been off form for a year, though. Slight difference.

That team spells 1-0 at home to Hamilton after a minging game with a 71st min winner from a Boyata header

So, if it’s Ntcham and not Broony you’re either playing CM’s with Brown, McGregor, Christie? Where does that leave Rogic?

Don’t think he is less effective there either though, it depends how you play the team. His best form for us at the tail end of last season that’s where he played. As long as you get McGregor facing goal then you’re jamming.
