Celtic winger Scott Sinclair has insisted that he never contemplated his future elsewhere despite a difficult time at the club.

There were some suggestions that Sinclair could make the move back south of the border this summer after his form at Celtic took a downward turn. However the player has maintained that he remains fully committed to the Parkhead side and he has every belief in his ability to get back to the form he showed in his first season at the club.

“No, it was never in my mind that I wanted to leave the club,” said Sinclair. “I love it here. I love the fans, I love the club and when I scored on Saturday you could see the emotion. It is pure joy.

There was a lot in that – frustration and relief coming out – and I think I have probably only had that same real feeling a handful of times in my career. It was a bit like the very first goal I scored for the club against Hearts at Tynecastle. It felt as important to me as that.

“To hear my name sung again by the support was brilliant. I have missed that. But it is up to me to keep delivering.

“It was a great feeling and now I am hungry and ready to go again.”

The Englishman netted his first goal at Celtic Park since January this year with the winning goal against Aberdeen and he is desperate not to utilise that to kick on back to form.

Celtic are back in action on Thursday night when they play Red Bull Salzburg with Sinclair hoping he has done enough to earn a start against the Austrians.

I am available . I feel fit, I feel fresh, I feel confident and whatever team the manager picks I have to go with it.

“All I can do is give it 100%. The manager knows me. He knows I want to play but everyone does.

“I can only control it from my side and that means showing up in games and showing up on the training ground.

“When you are not making an impact you are thinking, you are frustrated, you are angry.”

And Sinclair has also explained the pressure he has put on himself in the games where he has been asked to come off the bench and make an impact

When you start a game it is a very different pressure to when you come on from the bench,” he said. “When you are coming into the game you feel as if you must make an impact. You think that you can’t afford to play it safe, that you have to go for it every time.

“If I lose the ball a few times then you hear it – ‘Scott’s not the same player’ – but within myself I have always felt that I have it in me to get back to form and get back to winning ways.

I feel like we've said this so many times, but I really hope this is the goal that gets him going again.

We could do with as many goal threats in the side as possible.

I think this one clearly means a lot to him as it was the winner in a vital game against a team that has been our biggest challengers the past few seasons. So this one certainly means a lot. We will see if this kicks starts a return to top form I certainly hope so as not just do we need on on form Sinclair but clearly he is a guy who appreciates playing for us and what the club is about so I would love to see him back to his best from here on in this season.

To be fair, I thought the goal against AEK would have done that, but he went back to not looking very interested.

I was thinking and hoping the same thing myself. The difference this time is that this was a winner a cheeky finish and a goal that got us 3 points against our biggest challengers for the past few seasons.

Lets face it, the only thing he did was that back heal. I had a seat on the South Stand, watching Mackay-Steven close up in the first half. He was a right pain in the *. Aberdeen would have done better passing it to him more because he never put a foot wrong. Then watching Sinclair close up in the second half, it was like Sinclair didn't want the ball.

I'm no lover of Gazza, but to be brtually honest about this, Sinclair is better.
