Davies emphatically defended Sinclair over accusations of diving, but stopped short of confirming the attacker would start at Fir Park.

The Hoops assistant, who hinted Brendan Rodgers will make a number of changes, said: “We haven’t spoken about the incident. For us it was a penalty, as the manager said after the game.

“Scott’s been up here for 16 months and is a player who isn’t known for these types of incidents.

“There WAS contact, there WASN’T an attempt to play the ball, he WAS pulled down, he went down.

“I’m not worried about referees taking this view of Scott. He’s a very honest and hard-working player, a great role model for young players.

“It’s not Scott’s fault that the guy has made that action. It’s not Scott’s fault that the ref has sent him off.

“It’s not a genuine attempt to play the football. It’s a red card. I thought it was a very good decision in that respect.

Yeah he probably went down easily but the minute he's pulled back its a foul the defenders trying to knock him off balance to prevent him scoring, a similar thing happened with Armstrong being pulled back in the centre of the pitch denying him a break at the goal and that was a foul as well.

The way I look at it......Scotty boy is running at speed, if your arm gets even tugged or hooked to bring it behind your back, it knocks you off balance....he did the right thing and went down.
Also,If we were one nil down and the same thing happened and he tries to stay up and knocks the ball out for a goal kick, we would all be shouting ' he should have went down'...anybody with me?:celt_2:

Honestly sick of hearing about it at this point.

The fact it's a Celtic player is helping to drag it out.

If you were carrying a tray of drinks was the contact enough to cause a spillage? It was a pen. Why wait til Sinclair is past you then wrap an arm round him?

Look at the Cha red card in 2012 where he puts his hand on Wallace's arm who felt the contact was enough to collapse his legs.

BR: “If there’s a penalty to be taken in that situation, then it’s him. I’ve watched him in front of 90,000 at Wembley and he scored two penalties for me in a play-off final which is a £100m game. He never budged, he was calm and composed."

BR: “Whether it’s in front of nine, 60 or 90 thousand, I’d always back Sinclair to score. You could see he was straight on to it tonight and he finished it really well.”

    Watch him kick on now.

There’s a catalyst if ever there was one.
