    It's easy to remember only the few good things Samaras did in Europe and not remember all the frustrating pish he used to produce. My overriding memory of Samaras was always of him holding his hands to his mouth in disbelief at missing yet another easy chance.

    I'm clearly talking about the Samaras version we had whilst he was here and for me he was far better at LW for us and more dangerous in that European arena than Sinclair has shown so far for us at that level.

    So don't be silly thinking I'm comparing him to the current version of Samaras who is clearly finished.

    Also, he isn't our best player.

    Samaras was a lot more inconsistent than Sinclair.

    I would say Samaras, even in his prime, is nowhere near the level of Sinclair.

    Samaras scored 48 goals in his full Celtic career, Sinclair has scored 21 already.

    Samaras played one good game in every 10.
    He had a few good games in europe but he robbed a wage off us for years, how many good games did he have over a season ?
    Used to infuriate me every week all the talent in the world and he cared more about his hair than working hard for the team.
    Saying our player of the year is worse than Samaras is wrong.
    Would rather have a Sinclair who gives 110% every week than a one hit wonder in samaras.

    Sinclair has yet to prove himself in the CL of course. Was nothing special last season. Terrific domestically of course but Scottish Football is at a low at the moment in terms of standard.

    Just stats, no assist figures or impact play etc, just for info:

    Sinclair has played 9 European games for us. Scoring 3 and picking up 1 booking.

    Samaras' first 9 European games for us. Scored 2 and picked up 1 booking.

    (Sammy went on to complete 36 Euro games scoring 11 goals and picking up 8 bookings)


    Now, in terms of all this chat. Of course Samaras has been more effective in Europe, that cannot be denied. Different story domestically though.
