When Griffiths was 22 years old what team was he playing for and what had he achieved in the game?

He'd scored the best part of 100 goals.

Matters not a jot where are both now is the argument, one is a champion and current POTY, the other might be Hearts CF this season, its so far from being comparable its unreal unless its in your chasm of a brain

Ok so your whole argument is that Watt may be better than Griff when he is his age? There is no way in * that Watt is better than Griffiths at this point in time.

Godin, Bonucci, Chiellini, Ramos, Thiago Silva, Pique, Boateng, Hummels, Barzagli, Miranda would all be in my team before him.

Not even mentioning the young, up and comers who I'd rather have. Varane, Laporte, Gimenez.

Anyway this is getting a bit silly now, Up the Sinclair.

Let's be honest here the only thing Tony watt has done of note is score a good goal against barca in his whole career he's been moved on everywhere for this attitude he's supposedly got I know who I'd rather have in my team out of the two every day of the week and it's not watt anyway let's please get this thread back on topic this is supposed to be the Sinclair thread and it's just not been for ages now has it??

Boateng and Silva are the only two I consider in the same league as Pepe. The Italian guys all struggle in terms of pace, Hummels still makes basic defensive errors, I watched Miranda today vs Spurs.....eh just no. Godin is a good defender but very limited, given the same conditions at Real that Pepe has and Godin would probably struggle. Pique and Ramos, both good but Pepe is better well-rounded.

I honestly don't know where the opinion has come from that Pepe isn't world class. He's been at Madrid for 8 years, he's started at Madrid for 8 years and has fought off competition from Varane. You have to take into account all his attributes, one on one defending, his recovery pace, his strength and his leadership. He's, for me, the best reader of the game on the planet. Look at the games in the Euros again, especially in the latter stages he read absolutely everything perfect, he's always in the right place.

Ask his teammates, ask Ancelotti, Mourinho, Zidane, ask them all what they think of Pepe and believe me they'll give him massive praise.

Ffs mate. Tony Watt doesn't have half of that. What's he done to prove otherwise?

Pretty sure he was wolves top scorer at that time or scoring 20-30 goals for Hibs. Has Watt ever scored 10? :smiley-laughing002:

    I don't doubt it.

He's still not the best in the world. Far from it. You are putting down these other players saying they have limitations but so does Pepe.

I try not to post on here too often. But was someone on here actually arguing that Tony Watt is a better player than Leigh Griffiths? Calling that delusional would be generous. And I like Watt. But his prodigious talent was enough to land him at...Hearts? Tony Watt--he of 31 career goals--is a better finisher than Griffiths, who has 150+ career goals? You know Leigh is less than four years older than Watt, right? Griffiths has some limitations, but he's a country mile better than Watt. While there's a mountain of evidence that could support that statement, the only thing you really need to look at is the strike rate.
