What's the delay?

 

For all we know the player would only sign once some sort of European football was sorted

 

I haven't the faintest, but the source I have is adamant that it is done. He said yesterday, but came back today baffled by the delay.

 

Nobody is signing until we either qualify or don't qualify for the CL group stages. That will determine the quality of the signings as well. This is the Celtic board we are dealing with not a group of guys who are interested in what the fans want or in the club being overly ambitious.

Celtic remain in pursuit of Scott Sinclair, with manager Brendan Rodgers aiming to add to his squad in the next few days.

Aston Villa boss Roberto di Matteo confirmed on Friday that an offer has been made for the 27-year-old winger from the Scottish champions.

"There's no smoke without fire and there's been a lot of smoke," joked Rodgers. "Scott's a player I know well.

"I would really hope to sign a player before the weekend."

Celtic open their Scottish Premiership defence away to Hearts on Sunday, with a League Cup meeting with Motherwell to follow on Wednesday.

The next competitive match will be seven days later against Israel's Hapoel Beer Sheva in the first leg of the play-off round of the Champions League.

With Patrick Roberts facing up to three weeks out with a hamstring problem and fellow winger Gary Mackay-Steven still recovering from an ankle operation, Rodgers is keen to land Sinclair, who moved to Villa from Manchester City last summer on a four-year contract.

"The squad will be better and stronger by the time we arrive at the next European games," said Rodgers.

"We'd like to get in at least one new player before the deadline."

Roberts was withdrawn in Celtic's 2-1 win over Astana on Wednesday, with Rodgers saying the on-loan Manchester City player was "a risk" for the play-off matches with Hapoel Beer Sheva.

"He could miss the next two to three weeks," he explained. "I'm disappointed for him since he was as at really good level of fitness and operating at a high level

 

If the deal has been agreed and just not announced yet, that will be Pistol Pete doing what Pistol Pete does best. If we got knocked out by Astana then he has some good news to bring to all the fans.

Maybe the player wants some time to tell whats her name way the * she has to spend the next 3-5 years eating deep fried mars bars......you know what these super models are like.

 

SCOTT SINCLAIR has become Brendan Rodgers' third signing of the summer for Celtic.
It is understood Sinclair is undergoing a medical in Glasgow today ahead of a move to the Scottish champions.


The midfielder joins from Aston Villa and has been one of Rodgers' top targets for the summer window and joins Moussa Dembele and Kolo Toure as new signings.
The deal was held up as Aston Villa refused to budge on their asking price and Celtic had a number of bids rejected.
