true but still it can't be that hard for Celtic to pay them the asking fee

15 years ago 5-6 million was not a problem for us.....now this sort of cash is a fair outlay.

Anyhow.....im fine with it would just liked it if he was 1 or 2 years younger is all.

CELTIC have had a fourth bid for winger Scott Sinclair rejected by Aston Villa.

Relegated Villa are holding out for more than £3.5million for Sinclair.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers claimed he was optimistic of having a wildcard signing available when his side flies out to face Astana in the Champions League.

But after having previous bids of £1m, £1.25m and £2.2m turned down, Celts upped their offer over the weekend — only for that to also be rejected.

Villa are still looking for more than £3m for Sinclair, and are understood to be keen to structure the deal to include considerable add-ons if the Hoops qualify for the Champions League group stages.

Villa’s new chief executive, former Aberdeen supremo Keith Wyness, is determined to hold out for the market value for Sinclair, 27.

Frontman Sinclair only cost Villa £2.5m in May 2015 when he was signed by former boss Tim Sherwood.

Sinclair played 33 times last season under Sherwood then Remi Garde, who left Villa last March following their relegation to the Championship after a poor campaign.

New gaffer Roberto di Matteo is in no hurry to lose Sinclair.

He has played in three of Villa’s four pre-season matches, and is expected to be involved in their next friendly at Cambridge tomorrow night.

Sinclair, who began his top-flight career at Chelsea, worked with Hoops boss Rodgers at Stamford Bridge, and then at Swansea.

He is understood to be keen to link up with his former gaffer again at Parkhead.

But it’s clear Villa are prepared to play hardball to keep him, and Celtic will have to make a FIFTH bid to lure him north.

Seeing as players like Brad Smith from Liverpool are going for 6m, it's a snip at 3.75m
