Calling Hoopers finish against Spartak is a joke and shows how rattled you are here, that was a finish of the highest quality.

The point being, Griffiths lacks in quality - Hooper does not.

Griffiths is an untidy and incomplete player, Hooper is more of the polish full package and this is why he is the better striker and offers more of a problem to better defenders.

Griffiths lacks in Europe as he's rather one dimensional, he doesn't take players on, can't hold it up and offers no link up play or general game intelligence. The case being in Europe this season also is that what he's usually great at - his finishing- was letting him down, he was putting himself before the team, snapping at chances and generally not picking the best option as he wanted a goal for himself, you wouldn't see that in a quality player.

Griffiths can bang them in all he likes in the SPFL great, however he's by no means polished or can be trusted to do the same in Europe - maybe having another striker will allow him to relax and bit more and try and improve his all round game which is lacking to be of the quality needed to compete against European class defenders.

Tbf Griff has already proven he can score in Europe. He's actually scored a couple of peaches in the EL and CL quals last season. But having quality competition will be great for him.

Hooper is the better all round player. The amount of goals he created as well as scoring a tonne himself. Griffiths can get lost in games and you'll not see him at all, especially in Europe. Not 100% his fault, but he doesn't know what to do when that happens wheras Hooper did, he'd come deep and play off Stokes or Commons then move forward.

Since when did this become a thread about Hooper being better than Griffiths? Or vice versa? I came here to check if there was any news on Sinclair would love it if this got back on track to be honest

I don't know what point you are trying to make , do you think 40 goals is a bad return for a season in a mediocre team and playing aS a lone striker ? Regardless of what you think of them they are historically our biggest rivals and will continue to be and any knockout game at Hamden against them is a big game no matter what you think .

Last I heard from early yesterday was that we had positive talks with Villa and that negotiations were ongoing. Not sure if that means we've made another bid or not :50:

I still haven't made my mind up about whether this would be a good or bad signing. The lad is talented but I think he is another confidence player , from the admittedly little I have seen of him, and I fear the pressure here might be too much for him. It has been for others who I'd say were mentally tougher. I fear he may go the GMS route if he comes here, doesn't get off to a flyer, and the fans start to get on his back. I could be completely off though, it's hard to judge from highlights, especially when the entire team are *.

I was really not overly fussed on signing him but because we already have Dembele im more than happy to get anybody on top of him.

FWIW I wouldn't be exactly be bursting with excitement about Sinclair, as I was with Dembele.

But I still think at this level domestically he'd tear it up in the SPFL. In Europe I'd trust him to be a lot more effective than the likes of Armstrong/GMS/Stokes who we've had out wide in Europe last couple seasons but that isn't saying much. :smiley-laughing002:

A solid enough signing who if Brendan can squeeze the best out of him in his prime could be good for us. Wouldn't be paying over the odds for him though or giving him obscene wages for our level. Would much rather go for the other boy they have Jordan Ayew but I guess that's unrealistic.

Interesting hearing Brendan say today he likes to build his teams from the front and then fill in the positions behind, should mean we will see some movement on this guy and maybe another striker/winger soon

Yeah he is just what we need Imo. Watched him a lot though out his carrier was at Chelsea as a kid and went on loan to a few teams ended up at Swansea where he was at his best, he is blessed with pace and has very good ball control and dribbling skills but when at Swansea he also scored a lot of goals which is a bonus for a winger.

In Spl he would rip it to shreds with his shear directness and he is more confident than GMS you wont see him not trying to run at people he kept doing it at Villa last year even when they where down in dumps.

Another added bonus is that he is a good penalty taker:icon_mrgreen:
