I'm still hoping we sign another striker to compete..

Griffiths gives us a lot, clearly, but I'd still be striving for better, or at the very least 1 more to carry some of the burden..

2 up top is still quite light. Ciftci is finished and that leaves a false 9 in Christie, which Brendan might like, and a school kid..

    Agreed.

I think we need someone else as well.

That's why I suggested Zach Clough. He can play as a striker or behind the striker, and at £1.5 million he'd be perfect.

Mate I got the impression you were smarter than that, Griffiths should not and never will be a first choice Celtic striker in the mould of a Hooper for example as he can't be relied upon in the big games to produce the goods consistently enough. That's no slight on Griffiths as I rate him as a great back up to have, however I rate him as an upgraded Stokes in the sense that you can rely on him more or less domestically to bang them in but when the level goes higher Griffiths simply isn't reliable enough. Don't be fooled by 40 goals against more or less dross bar Fenerbache, we need a striker with far more to their game than Griffiths up front this season coming.

With the way we're going to be playing, ideally it has to be someone with real good link up play. Dembele looks like he could be that, but deffo another under that 4-3-3, to bring Roberts and a possible Sinclair in to it. Griffiths' main weakness is his hold up and link up play..

A Hooper would've been perfect, or similar for the Rodgers revolution..

Rate him highly, for £1.5M he should be someone we're after regardless of how many MFs we have. You can never have enough quality and guys like GMS I'd guess will be leaving.

Get rid of GMS, Forrest and Ciftci - bring in Clough and Sinclair.

Offensively, that'd give us a pool of - Dembele, Griffiths, Clough, Roberts and Sinclair. That is like night and day compared to last season.

From what I've read, link up play isnt Dembele's strongest points.

I don't think Dembele is that type. Was looking at his stats from last season and he lost possession after his 1st touch more than everysingle other player in the Championship, he also was dispossessed more than every other player in the Championship except one other player.

Those two stats added to his quite good dribbling stats would point to him as more of a Samaras type, someone who likes to take his first touch on the turn and run etc which leads to him losing the ball all the time.

Not really a back to goal use his strength and lay it off etc

His passing stats were pretty average too 70% completion although he set up a decent amount of chances. He's offside barely ever too so you'd imagine he doesnt play on the shoulder or that high up the pitch probably comes deeper a lot or wide.

Having never really seen him from his stats you can work out he is more of a runner who doesnt really play up top like a Griffiths or Hooper.

Anyway.... aint this boy more of a Number 9 than a winger? All his stats and videos would suggest that is where he plays.

    Who Sinclair? he's a winger.

Dembele then probably a forward, depending on his style of play though he may struggle to play through the middle for us and be more suited to the wing like Lassad or Samaras as for Fulham he probably had a lot more space to run into and that than he will in the SPL with us playing 10 man defences every week his pace and ability to carry a ball would be more useful out wide.

We're always in an awkward position where a player who would be useful for us up front in Europe like Samaras, Fortune or Murphy due to their running or hold up or ability in the air or whatever aren't very good for us domestically he may be the same.

Who's to say Griffiths won't improve further under Rogers? He excelled with hard work and determination under deila. Until proven otherwise he is still celtics no.1 forward.

Look, I rate Griffiths just not as our number 1 striker and feel we can do better. As I said it's not just all about goals need to have more to your game overall which he's missing.

Btw for those who want Griffiths in the team and to accomadate the others could always play a 4-1-3-2. So something like...

    ----------------Bitton---------------

    ---Roberts-----Rogic-----Sinclair-----

    ---------Dembele---Griffiths----------

Anyone like a 4-1-3-2 formation? Obviously domestically would leave us too open in Europe this formation?
Too many things for him to improve on, adapt to his game and learn from within the next couple months. You either got it or you don't and at nearly 26 Griffiths is all the player almost he'll ever be. Very good back up though for a better striker.

People act like I don't like Griffiths that ain't true games at home against Ross County, St Johnstone etc all day long big high pressure games in Europe no chance.

    Bollocks.

    Start to finish.

I'll wait and see Dembele kick a baw first before dropping Griffiths.

Well his link up play with McCormack was a standout for Fulham last year, and is evident in his YouTube footage, as well as his goals, nearly all coming inside the box/6 yard box. That would blow some of those point's well out the window..

    We'll soon see..

I think overall he is still(here comes that word) 'raw' in many areas.

He is strong, fast, powerful and decent enough on the ball. I did read as well that he isn't as good with his back to goal, however with his physique and those attributes mentioned that can soon be worked on.

I think with him we will need to remember that he is still only 19, regardless of the hype surrounding him. Incredibly young.

Aye, that Symons article mentioned that he went 10 game's or so without scoring.....so we indeed need to remember his age and where he's at. Still think he'll hit the ground running here mind, he's a goalscorer, and has done it a a good level. He's been at a pish side, who just avoided relegation, and now he'll be flooded with ball's in our division, where we'll be likely blitzing side's..

Reckon he'll easily hit 25 this year..

Aye that's the thing. He'll get so many more chances at goal with us.

Even if we are playing pish we can often fashion out 2 or 3 decent opportunities at goal. Exciting to see how he does.

Hopefully a couple more signings in the final third of the field to come as well.
