Brown isnt the same person who came to Celtic at first, wheres his bursting runs he is known for and also his ability at taking on players gone to? He hasnt shown his ability in a while IMO and in my opinion he is unsettled.

Yeh mate, im deadly serious, i dont base this on the fact that i think he is worth 9mill mate, but i base it on 3 major facts

fact 1: Newcastle already bid 9mill when he just signed for Celtic, so someone likes him there?

fact 2: The EPL and the Russian league are the 2 highest price inflated legue's in Europe, especially if a bidding war starts

fact 3: craig gord 9mill and alan mutton 9 mill, if they are both worth that then So is SCOTTIE BROON if not more......................

    You don't honestly believe that?

Scott Brown hasn't done anything in a Celtic or Scotland jersey so how can he merit that kind of fee? Where as Gordon and Hutton did it both for club and country for a period of time... Albeit Hutton only started to do it consistantly over the last year. But his performances in europe for club and country showed how much of a talent he is.

My opinion is that he needs to be rested for a game or 2 simply so that he can recharge those Hibs batteries. He was dynamic and just now he's dire. Needs to be nurtured instead of burning out which ultimately leads to him being the player he is and not the player we bought.

Let's stand back and get a bit of perspective.

Brown has been below par for what, 3 months?

Thierry Henry was absolute PISH for about a season and a half when he came to Arsenal. Not to mention he wasn't doing it much before that.

Hutton worth more than Brown based on what? International performances? His most famous contribution, flashed across the world on highlight shows, was to go all Titus Bramble and clatter into his man on the byline for a costly freekick. Brown is worth more than Gordon and Hutton, no contest. It's not even funny to pretend otherwise.

Only people who have ingested the diet of constant hype and propaganda of the Scottish press could be forgiven for being lulled into this belief. Gordon and Hutton got the same type of silly treatment Rooney gets in England.."best in the world etc", sadly shown up as baws whenever the test arises with England or on the Euro stage.

Jeez.. Brown didn't become a bad player overnight. Let's stick by him and he'll rediscover himself soon enough. He is potentially a world class midfielder, let's not forget that.

    Hail, Hail!

I stated from the start that he was so overrated and he is. Has he improved our team after us forking over 4 million? I think our league positioning and performances answer that one. He has bags of energy and can tackle etc etc, but his passing sucks and he doesnt read the game well enough. Get rid of him, i think he only came here for the money anyway. Like all new signings they come out with all the right rhetoric * after being prompted by marketing officials like Samaras saying how he has come to the biggest team in scotland. Im not arguing with that but the fact is he probably doesnt know the first thing about scottish football. IMO Brown would have preffered Rangers to us but money talks, similar to the Hutton situation. Hope he goes in the summer.

    Broony wants out

Scott Brown is eyeing a Celtic exit - just six months after snubbing the Premiership for a £4.5m move to Parkhead. (Express)

got this from bbc webpage...altho since then celtic have come out and said he aint going anywhere!!

this doesnt surprise me at all, he hasnt played anywhere near the levels he did at hibs last season, looks disinterested and not worth anywhere near the 4.5 million we paid for him. Funny how he is different player when wearing the BLUE of scotland!! id sell for 6 million if they got offered!!!

Sorry, Homer, but there is no debate, really!

We both have differing viewpoints which have expressed and won't change them.

Best to agree to disagree and just support the Bhoys :50:

The most sensible thing said all thread. Can't believe the pish that is coming out of some folks about Brown being pish and overrated. The number and scale of the games he played for the first 5 months of the season were double the number and bigger (CL qualifying matches against the European champs, international qualifying against the World champs) than anything he has experienced before. The young guy must be knackered, physically and more importantly mentally. McGeady has been allowed plenty of dips in form, how come Brown isn't?

Newcastle have already bid 9m and we've knocked it back. He has 4 and a half years left on his contract. If someone comes in with a 15m bid, or in Man Utd's case 10m and Fletcher, then we start discussing this.

This is just the usual paper pish after Celtic had a very good day in the transfer market yesterday, stealing samaras from under Rangers noses and picking up the most exciting prospect in Japanese football.

I'm always amazed at how fickle some people are on these boards. Do people honestly believe the level hes at now (i.e. not playing great) is how he will be for the rest of his career?

As the two above have pointed out he could do with either a) a rest or b) a chance to rekindle form instead of being turfed out at the nearest whiff of a profit..

P.s that is article from the express is absolute trash with no factual basis. Must be a slow news day...

it amazes me how fickle too and how people dont seem to know about football.

    1. Gordon Strachan not a good manager for Celtic - Why cos he is not a celtic fan and probably not a roman catholic. well neither were stein or dalgleish

    2. Scott Brown is not as good as when playing for scotland - Pish he has been one of our top 3 players this season and will only get better since he is only 22. Infact id make him captain in a couple of seasons.

Point 1.There is a thread headed WGS. Please check it out and see how many voted this way. I think you will find the answer is 0 so this argument is not only * but insulting.

Point 2. Scott brown has the oportunity to become a top midfield player. But at this stage of his career he can no way be described as this.He has a long way to go in his development and should not be our midfield general as he is nowere near ready. If we dont buy someone with experience and class to play next to him so he can learn the game and develop. Then I can only see his progress being stunted. Because of this I think if a club was to offer silly money(8-10mil) for his signature then we should seriously consider it as this would help us strengthen in other areas ie.CB,LB and a DM player.

IMO Scott Brown is a good player and willl get better. He started off the season well with surging runs but he used to leave acres of space behind him. He has probably been asked to me more wary of just going on a mazy run for this reason. (is this Stachans fault or tactical decision as we cant have gaping holes in the middle of the park).I genuinely believe its Donati's poor form that makes him look bad. If you have mcgeady on one side going forward.Naka on other going forward and then still wanting Brown to bomb through the middle then you have to have a sitting midfielder that does not want to get forward. Preferbaly one that when making a pass does not play it 4-10 yards BEHIND the indended recipient. (Just watch how often Donati does that. I would be going off my nut if i was playing with him).:31:

Brown has suffered a dip in form, no doubt. But apart from Boruc, McDonald and McGeady whos form hasnt dipped recently. Not to mention he was getting played out of position for ages.
I dont know about a rest, we just need to sort midfield out and settle on a starting four that are all fired up and ready to play, as they havent been at the races lately.

Wise up lads. Give the man some time. Remember how frustratingly crap McGeady was for much of last season. Anyone who has seen his Ireland performances would not want him to play another minute there also.

    We need some perspective.

An even better example: A good few years ago it used to be a runnig joke when discussing fitba with Liverpool supprting mates that young Stevie Gerrard was good, but only once in every 3 matches.

Now look at him. Brown reminds me a lot of Gerrard when he was younger, only Gerrard was many times crapier in a lot more matches.

    Give the guy some slack.

    Hail, Hail!
