I don't really see what that proves though. If you look back far enough, there will be comments saying how good a game Ambrose has had. The truth is though, Ambrose has been rotten for a while now, much like Brown, who looks a shadow of the player he was. His performance against Fenerbahce at home last season, he doesn't look capable of that now.

It proved that a lot of our support are fickle.

He's only played one game this season so saying he isn't capable of that type of performance again is way too premature, unless you're judging him on the last few months of last season when he had tendonitis in his hamstrings.

Don't know why you are comparing him to Ambrose. There is no comparison there. Ambrose has been abysmal for about 3 years straight.

Johansen was very good for about 3 months. Brown has done it for Celtic for years. These comparisons are ridiculous.

It doesn't prove that at all. It shows that Brown has deteriorated massively. He doesn't look capable of that performance now, I'm not sure how that can be argued.

I'm also not comparing Brown with Ambrose. You have cherry picked comments about Brown having a good game, all I'm saying is, you could do the same with Ambrose.

For me, injuries have caught up with Brown. I've never been a fan of him technically, in fact, I think on the ball he is pretty shocking if I'm honest, but I was happy to see him in the team because he brought other things to the table. He isn't offering anything just now, and hasn't for some time.

In fairness I only quoted them because someone said we've been saying the same things about Brown for years, which just isn't true.

With regards to the rest of your post, we'll see over the next few months.

There you go. That was over 2 pages from 2011. Lucky find :smiley-laughing002: There have been folk who have never rated him. He has had plenty of good games, but he's also had plenty of stinkers. He looks done to me now.

It was actually only around 2011, when Lennon was manager, that I began to rate him myself. Think Lennon made him into a better player. Then it was the Benfica game at home in 2012/13 that really raised my opinion of him as a player.

Anyway I'm not having a go at people criticising his form, I just think people are jumping the gun with him a bit with calls for him being replaced as captain etc. I'd give him until September and if he shows no sign of improvement then I will probably be calling for him to be dropped myself, but I do think he'll be back to his best.

I don't want Brown sold or stripped of captaincy. I was just annoyed(and still am) about his lack of leadership last night. Really was a shameful performance.

I still have hope he'll get back to his best but I'm having lingering doubts

He's good to have around, in a back room sense, maybe as a coach but he's not going to be the player he should be as captain again.
New manager, fresh start, clean slate, new captain. He's had his day as captain and I thank him for it overall but we really need a new one. Sviatchenko for me, all day long.

This had been building up for years in my opinion

The guy is an embarrassing footballer and anyone who is in the " aye, but he's good for morale " camp can chase themselves

What's good for morale is a captain who leads by example, who's the best player on the park when the chips are down, who makes match-winning passes or last minute goals. A guy who can look each opponent in the eye and command respect for his ability and attitude. THATS the kinda guy that is good for morale

Not a * brainless clown who is not feared by a single opposition footballer.

His time is up. He NEEDS to be dropped. We're in trouble (again) if we don't

Quote one person that has said he should be in the team purely for morale.

Lot of people on here have this amazing ability to wind themselves up over things that exist in their head only.

People think it's acceptable because we have had no challenge in the league for 4 years. It's stupid to fall into that kind of complacency.

When our midfield captain can't, at least, spray decent passes about the place with conviction you know he shouldn't be captain. Especially if he's getting on in years and beginning to lose his legs, passing ability would make up for that to an extent. Broony doesnae really have that in his locker, I'd say.

Don't know how long Broony has left on his contract but his best days seem to be behind him now .
