He seems more a defensive box to box player than someone who'd sit deepest, i.e he might be effective for a team like Chelsea as opposed to everyone, in sort of a similar role to Ramires alongside Matic or something like that. Chelsea don't play the most offensive football anyways so I could see something like that in big games for them. I don't think he'd get away with his lack of technical ability at Arsenal or United though, say what you want about guys like Arteta or Carrick but they have excellent reading and distribution.

Not in terms of technical ability.

Leadership, work rate, aggression etc. he is.

Both of them are far superior passers of the ball

    In what sense?

Ki has been sensational for the past 18 months for Sunderland and Swansea, like the key player for both teams arguably and absolutely crucial in everything they do. And for me, Ledley's a better, more offensive minded, version of Brown while possibly lacking the leadership qualities.

Put it this way who would we replace him with? For us, right now, we cannot replace him he really makes a difference for us.

I just think he brings more to the team overall. His work rate is absolutely phenomenal, as is Ledley's but Brown is better at actually winning the ball back and making interceptions.

I also think Brown's technical ability is underrated. No denying his passing range is limited but he knows that himself and generally keeps it tidy and simple. His first touch and awareness are both good though, there are times he is surrounded by 3 players and you think hes * but will get out of it and retain possession. Then his leadership qualities need to taken into consideration.

If Ki or Ledley were still here, would you have started either ahead of Brown last night?

I agree with that but there is a lot more to being a good footballer than technical ability. If I'm trying to decide who I think is a better player I ask myself who is going to win me more matches, and I think our results when he's out of the team prove that's Scott Brown.

Take \o/ out of the team and something goes missing in the whole team.
Its like players relax and drop a gear or two when he is missing from the side for a game or more.

He's not technically up there but if you don't think browns drive, energy and infectious playing style would work at a united/ arsenal then that's up to you. I'd say they have both at times this season needed a midfielder in the mould of broony.

Don't make out I'm saying he's a world beater and don't tell me he couldn't mix it in the premier league..

How the * could you quote this;--------- below from mcguire
    & come out with the * above?

"You don't think broony could shine in many big midfield's around Europe. More fool you, his energy would be infectious and the tempo we've seen him add in National games and in Europe for Celtic tell us he'd thrive.."
