Don't know what to make of this signing. I feel we have more pressing issues than adding more to the midfield. Nothing to do with whether he a Sevco fan or anything to do with Sevco at all.

Like Ciftci, I have reservations about Allan. As has been pointed out he struggled to make an impact at West Brom and was sent out on several loan moves. Now that could be solely down to the manager just not taking to him. I watched a few Hibs games last season, one game he stuck out like a sore thumb (Sevco). He shown real quality. Passed very well, was inventive when he had, shown game intelligence by constantly finding space and being a danger everytime he touched the ball. Next game against better opposition in Hearts, he struggled to have any influence. Like wise against lesser opponents Alloa. Raises questions for me over his consistency.

Don't get me wrong, I only seen him on a handful of occasions and even current players levels of performance drop but the marked difference in performance has raised questions for me. However if he can re-produce the aforementioned qualities shown in the Sevco game then it's a smart purchase. With Commons coming towards the latter timescale of his contract, Allan could be a possible replacement.

Again it comes down to trusting the manager with these decisions.

I would be starting with Griffiths just now, at home at least. Who would be the CL quality signing you would bring in that you would drop Griffiths for and how does signing Scott Allan stop you from doing so?

This transfer is near zero cost. We have unloaded any of the McGeouch cost we were retaining as part of the loan, and Henderson wages now that hibs are paying them. If those 2 things together equate to about 5k per week they counteract the 250k put out.

McG gets sone closure and gets to move on, since he clearly wasn't going to make it here sadly - i had really high hopes before that injury. Hendo gets to spend an entire year playing first team football in a team with good coaches, who should be competing every week ; in the climate/weather/media conditions to train him up for a return to us next year a year older and wiser. Allen gets a permanent move to the countries champions, where he will receive the best coaching possible and while trying to make the 1st team will play with the development squad against the best CL youths in europe. So from a player point of view, all win.

Celtic got a very good prospect to mould to completion for the expenditure of one youth who wont make it, a great training loan for one more and should do so at near zero cost (see above). Hibs get 2 players that will do wonders in the championship for them, plus 250k in cash upfront to offset the wages involved. All at the expense of a player who had been completely unsettled by the media continuously hounding the stage, and would have lost for nothing in the next few months. Again all sides win.

Why are people complaining about this transfer?

my only personal gripe with ronny is the one up front....sometimes it just doesn't work, especially within the SPFL,we should go 2 up...but if this guy can pin in proper crosses like his vids show, the one up front could work well if he gets the proper pass

That's fine, but you had mentioned that Deila would be under pressure due to this signing if we lose on Wednesday. Who could we bring in realistically that would be guaranteed to start on Wednesday ahead of Griffiths?

Absolutely. Again, he's a low risk signing that could turn out to be a very good one. If he doesn't, then so be it, but for 275,000 & Hendo on loan, I'm struggling to find anything to moan about with this one.

Wait & see, I guarantee if we draw or lose on Wednesday that there'll be posts on this forum bemoaning the fact that we were chasing a Championship player when we should have been looking for a decent striker.

As for your second question, that's something you'll need to put to John Park and the scouting team. I assume they have a dossier of players who would work for us? We should have been working on that as well as spending pennies on a squad player.
