Can't say I'm thrilled about the signing but only paying £280k and getting Henderson out on loan to hibs is hard to be annoyed about.

I wasn't top happy about Griffiths signing due to his off-field attitude but been happy with him. Hopefully we'll see Allan become a star under us. Also quite happy to see that no one really cares that he grew up a hun. If he can do the business for us, I'll love him all the same lol.

My opinion of him has never changed, even when we thought he was signing for the huns. Let the guy settle and he'll be a good player for us. Bet he ends this season with the most assists.

Anyone think that Allan could be the long term replacement for Commons?

I'm not sure if he's better than GMS, or even on the same level, but Commons' best days will be behind him soon, probably within the next couple of years.

Not that I can see him retiring or anything, but he may slowly become more and more of a bit part player here, especially when you think of the emphasis that Ronny puts on fitness.

I see Armstrong as Commons' replacement, if he can add more goals to his game.

Allan is a proper playmaker type. Not so much about goals but can thread a pass and deliver a set piece.

I know that's the standard response for most players signing for us these days, but there's something extra sweet about it coming from Allan's mouth :smiley-laughing002:

Scum will be * fizzing with that, perfect.

In your opinion would you say he's better or more creative than Commons?

As in having the ability to unlock defenses with immaculate through balls.

@Quiiiinn: Gazza seen throwing his fishing rod and chicken in a river and screaming “Scott Allan isn't my friend”

That made me chuckle on Twitter. Pretty sad some of the digs they are having at young jay tho!

In terms of killer ball I'd say Allan is better. He will be invaluable in Scotland with the way teams set up against us.

In terms of goal threat he's nowhere near Commons level, that's the next step for him IMO. Having a far better end product for all his good play.

Commons has also been there, done that and bought the t shirt. Allan stagnated for a fair bit and still has a lot of scope for getting better. Which hopefully he will.

    All together now!
Scott Allen is a *, he wears a * hat.
He was wanted by the Rangers, but Hibs said naw * that.
Now he wears the Green hoops, and lives the Celtic way.
And when he is retired, he will join the IRA.

That's probably the strongest part of Allan's game.

Well I think we would be kidding ourselves on if we said that that wasn't something we have been badly missing. The amount of attacks that break down for us when we get to the final third is chronic.

Happy with this signing, think he'll prove to be a worthwhile buy.
