Can't believe anybody would think that Deila and Lawell would sign a player to stop him going to Sevco. That kind of mentality belongs at Mordor. He totally fits the bill for the kind of player Ronnie has sought before, young, Scottish with a point to prove and room to develop. Also very cheap, I'd rather spend 250k on him than some of the dough that's been flunked in recent years. I see no negative.

The one thing we can all agree about is Pete aint going to waste money , so that means , for me anyway , RD has said he wants him.

There is a wee bit of doubt in my mind that the player might yet say no and we are made to look as if we have lost out to sevco, but then again I just think before this has went public Pete/hibs/players have all privately given assurances the deal will go ahead.

That's the only reason I'm not angry about it.

Least we have signed other players or this would feel very Willo Flood-ish.

He's not really young though is he? In football terms. He's the same age as Johansen.

You can't possibly know that. He might just need a bigger platform to play on. He'll be surrounded by far better players than at Hibs as well. You cannot judge a player by where/who he plays for.

We signed Gravesen from Madrid, Jarosik from Chelsea, an Eyal Berkovic who was a very good EPL player and a certain £5mil Brazilian defender. They hardly set the heather on fire did they?

Moving to Celtic could be the making of the boy.

I know, my comment looks a bit stupid. In my heart of hearts I know its not about winding up them - of course it isn't. I mean it'l be funny for us but I don't think that is what Ronny is thinking about at all.

Pete obviously doesn't waste money and this is a classic signing he would love - dirt cheap.

Last bit aswell I agree. If he does that it will be slightly humiliating for us but I can't help but think he's a wee mercenary who'd jump at the chance to earn more money here and even if it doesn't work out, he'l get better offers than if he was playing for Sevco.

This and how many goals our number 7 gets.

These two signings will let us know if ronny knows a player or not.

scott allan has the game time and experience when compared to henderson and mcgeough. Think this is what is making ronny think he has something to offer and opportunity to develop him.

Whereas the henderson and mcgeough need game time before he can properly judge them

Our midfield if he signs now looks like

    Armstrong
    commons
    Forrest
    Brown
    Bitton
    Johansen
    Rogic
    GMS
    Allan

Now that's 9 midfielders for 5 positions that's fine I always say you need 2 players for every position so 5x2 = 10 we have 9 so am happy with that pleanty of options and allows players to be rested! Some of us need to remember we could be looking at a 60 games season excluding international matches so some could play a lot more! We need to trust Ronny!

We are short in the midfield area- brown came to celtic an attacking midfield player but look at his development over the years. We need cover in centre midfield and this boy for deila fits the bill.

Naw I wasn't meaning your comments look stupid at all :50:
The transfer value of a player isn't always linked to how good he is or how valuable he will become.
Yes IF this deal was to collapse the media will certainly spin it so we look the bad */failed to get our target , something that would be totally bollocks and most would know that.

Worse case, we get him and in a years time IF he doesn't make the grade we will make money flogging him down south simple as that. Although I have a feeling RD knows what he is doing and that wont become an issue.

And while it played no part in deciding to go for him , seeing the hurt and confusion coming from them is good :52::56:

Think we really need to trim the squad with stokes, boerrigter maybe skelp-a-* if he isnt getting game time and we dont get another striker in.

Sending henderson out on loan and selling mcgeough, then sending allan back out on loan to hibs will get him out as well

Cant see allan coming in to the first team so sending him back to hibs for the season makes sense$

Days before our most important game of the season it looks like we are signing a project in an area of the park that is already bloated with players.

The weaknesses in our team are glaring and yet we are, once again, going to gamble on not fixing them before we actually make the CL.

Would spending 3/4 mill on a striker before our most important game in years (imo) really put us under financial pressure?

Just reading that back to myself we could potentially have a whole team of celtic fringe players at hibs.

Much better test than the development squad i would think, especially with rangers, st mirren, queen of the south, falkirk and any potential cup runs

Why the * would Allan sign for us to go back on loan to Hibs for the rest of the season, when he can stay at Hibs till the end of the season and sign for the Sevhuns in January?

If we are looking to buy a young scottish player with lots of potential I would rather buy Ryan Christie or play Henderson on a more regular basis. Scott Allan is a good player don't get me wrong

cant see us being under any financially pressure as we have virgil money and guaranteed european football till christmas. Spending 300k on allan who i would expect to be getting sold for 1-1.5million if he had a longer contract

I dont like the deal if allan doesnt go out on loan immediately as cant see him getting much game time if henderson cant get game time
