Another player who'll be moved on in January if not before. Shouldn't have signed him in the first place.

SCOTT Allan insists Celtic supporters will only see his true ability once he gets a concerted run of games under his belt.
The 24-year-old has endured a frustrating first season in Paradise after signing from Hibernian back in August on a four-year contract.
Fierce competition for places in the attacking midfield department restricted him to just three starts, with the vast majority of his 17 appearances coming from the bench.
Having been a mainstay of the team at his previous club, spending so much time on the sidelines has been a challenging experience for Allan, whose progress wasn’t helped by a niggling injury in the first half of the season.
Being out of the picture for prolonged periods has prevented the former Scotland Under-21 internationalist from building any momentum in the Hoops.
And while he ended the season as a title winner and part of the five-in-a-row celebrations, Allan is relishing the prospect of a fresh start at Celtic under new manager Brendan Rodgers.
Speaking exclusively to the View, he said: “For me, I haven’t managed to get the games together that I want. You can only really judge someone after four or five games together in the team and see what they have got. When you are coming in and being used sparingly it’s hard to make an impact.
“At Hibs last season, I never really got going until September when I had five or six games under my belt and then the fans started to see the best of me and hopefully it’s the same here.
“Ask any footballer and they will tell you that sometimes you can come in and play off adrenalin and do well, but then the next week it’s not as good again, so to get that run of games is massive. It brings your awareness back and all the other natural things you have when you are playing in the team every week.
“When you aren’t playing you’re not used to the tempo of the games and it can be difficult. Sometimes it can look even worse if you try too hard instead of playing it simple and trying to work your way into the match. It’s just vital that I can get run of games and then people can judge me.
“Obviously it’s been another year of learning and even though I haven’t been playing, I’ve still worked hard. A lot was made when I signed year and I was hoping to play to put all that to bed, but when you aren’t playing it means it’s highlighted even more. It’s obviously been difficult but it’s something you have to deal with and I’ve just tried to get into the team.
“With the season coming to a close, I have to make sure I’m in the best physical condition for next season, give it a real go in pre-season and have a fresh start.”
Allan admitted he’s already eagerly anticipating the onset of pre-season towards the end of month. He will be a man on a mission.
“I can’t wait to be honest and hopefully I can get some good pre-season games under my belt, get into the team and have a run,” he said. “The fans have seen me nowhere near my best. As I said it took some time for me to get into my stride at Hibs and they saw the best of me and hopefully it will be the same here.
“It’s a fresh start and you want to make an impact on the new manager. Everyone is at the same level of fitness so there will be a few players including myself who will want to catch the new gaffer’s eye.”

    Spoke well there.

I'd like him to get a proper run in his best position. But I'd say the same for Armstrong, Christie, Rogic etc. I think Allan will fall by the wayside.

Wonder if he regrets that. He was always going to struggle to get into the team here, but he'd have slotted into the Rangers lineup quite well.

Obviously the draw of Celtic was too big.

Theres bags of raw potential with this player. But it might be too late for him to make an impact.

Can't get away from the fact that the squad and midfield in particular is chock full. With Rodgers stating he prefers a smaller squad & indicating his intention to use Brown & Mulgrew (& that's before he adds any new players) it looks to me like guys on the periphery eg Allan will be given the bullet.

Everyone is out to impress but I'm sure Rodgers will already have an inclination of who he'll be moving on. The qualifiers are just around the corner & he/we/the board has put huge pressure on him to get us through them. I can't see players getting a huge amount of time to impress him before he moves them on to free up space for his own guys & I would be surprised if he hasn't already earmarked a few who will most likely be going, as harsh as it may seem.

Can't see it happen for Allan, Henderson etc unfortunately.

SCOTT Allan is revelling in the excitement created by the appointment of Brendan Rodgers and he admitted that he can’t wait for pre-season to get underway.
Fans have been flocking to buy season tickets since the former Liverpool and Swansea manager took the reins in Paradise.
And Allan told the official website that the players were also enthused at working under the Irishman and playing his brand of attractive, attacking football.
“It’s exactly the same for the players,” he said in an exclusive interview. “We are really excited and we are all looking forward to getting back in, to develop playing the type of football we saw at other clubs under him and having a successful season.
“If you look back to when he was at Liverpool and they had the three attacking players up front, it was very exciting. They tried to play football the right way and got the fans off their seat, and that’s the type of football our fans look for as well.
“The fans, the players and people around the club have that buzz about the place and it’s something we are looking forward to.
“All the boys are really relishing coming back and working under him. It was a massive appointment and hopefully he brings out the best in the players we have got as we have some good quality at Celtic.
"Everyone is happy and now we just need the performances on the park.”
Around 13,000 fans welcomed Brendan Rodgers to Paradise on an incredible day and Allan would love to see a full house at Celtic Park on a regular basis next season.
“I was surprised but at the same time I wasn’t surprised at how many people turned up as that’s the type of thing that happens at Celtic,” he said. “It was different class and everybody all over the world will be thinking how good our supporters are.
“When you speak to Broony and Charlie who have played here for years, they would say every week there was a sell-out and it felt like a must-win game.
“If you get a bigger crowd it brings out the best in you, it will give us a bit extra if we have a full 60,000 behind us and are playing well, while the other team will be more nervous. You can’t buy that and not many clubs can do that. It gives you that extra 10 per cent and the fans can suck the ball into the net.”

    Fresh start for all..

Something has to give though with the amount of midfielders we have..

I expect the Jan window will see a bit of a cull.. Allan and a few others will get until then..

It would be so brilliant if Allan was part of Rodgers' plans and he got the best out of him. He's got such a brilliant through ball on him it inspires great movement from runners and strikers.

Will be interesting to see where he fits in if at all.. On the face of it he's probably best suited to a diamond foramtion, either at the tip or to the left.. At the tip, Rogic or Commons(possibly Roberts) will be his main competition, arguably both better options.
I can see Armstrong or a new signing playing on the left..

Don't feel he's mobile enough for a 4-3-3 or can press enough playing 4-2-3-1 so he needs to make the best of his opportunities.. 3-5-2 could be good for him..

The flexibility and change of formations that Brendan utilises will be a breath of fresh air for both the players and the fans.

And I'm sure Scott will get a chance in a central role rather than trying to make an impact from the bench in wide areas in venues like Inverness and St.Johnstone..

Aye I don't think he needs to compete with Rogic, Commons or definitely not Roberts over on the right hand side. I imagine him being an inside left kinda position? Someone who can link up midfield and attack because as you say I don't think he's got the pace to play as an out and out attacking mid.

Why are you saying Armstrong will get a role on the left? That's been one of the main complaints under Ronny, I can't see Brendan continuing it?

Wasn't it more a case of Hibs just refusing to sell him to Rangers?

I mean specifically on the left of a diamond, where Allan could play too..(also, Roberts could play at the tip of the diamond)

he had 6 months left on a contract, if he really wanted to go there he could have sat and waited.

Everything I read at the time suggested he was a Rangers fan and wanted to move there, but Hibs ended up rejecting a bid from a competitor and sold him to us instead.

I wouldn't bet against him ending up there eventually if I'm honest.

    Same.

He's just got that look about him.
