In behind the striker he would have been effective. Why didn't Deila play Christie on the left, who has pace to beat a man (showed a glimpse of it to set up Griff for a header) & Allan in behind where his eye for a pass would have paid dividends. Another ludicrous oversight by the manager, I think it was clear as day to everyone apart from our management team. These kind of things are why I'll be glad to see the back of him.

It would have been better had he signed for Sevco.

I don't think he's good enough. He might be a bit better in behind the striker, he might be a bit better in centre-mid, but at the end of the day we can get better players than Scott Allan and that's it.

Let's wait 'til the guy starts five/ten games and is * before labelling him as such, eh? Coming off the bench a half-dozen times with twenty minutes to go isn't enough to judge. (And, of course, not being played in the right position.)

Let the new manager decide who is and who isn't good enough. :celt_2:

Considering that he doesn't like to splurge, I doubt it.

Yep, will no doubt rattle three or four into us as well if that does happen.

Need to give the guy some games the way Kazim-Richards got a run, and only then can we see if he's any use.

And to play him in the middle. Sticking him out left was setting him up to fail

SCOTT ALLAN insists he has no regrets over his switch to Celtic – because he has improved as a player during a frustrating first campaign at Parkhead.

The midfielder made just three starts for the Hoops after making the move from Hibernian last summer at the end of a lengthy transfer saga between the Easter Road outfit and Rangers.

Allan struggled for match action as he found himself behind a long line of forward thinking players in Ronny Deila’s squad during a successful Premiership season.

But the 24-year-old believes he has benefitted from his time in Glasgow as he looks to make a name for himself next term.

Allan said: “People will look at this season as another one out of my career when I could have been playing every week, but I felt it was the right thing to do at the time.

“I have developed other things in my game that I wouldn’t have done had I stayed in the Championship with Hibs and hopefully that will stand me in good stead for next season.

“I have a far better work ethic than I had at Hibs. When you are doing well every week, you get into a comfort zone and can go through the motions in training, so when you are not playing it keeps you hungry and you work even harder.

“It was tougher at West Brom as I was away from home and I didn’t have my friends or family around me.

“It’s been tough in terms of football as I’ve worked hard every day and not got the reward with a run of games. When I played against St Johnstone recently, I wanted to have a bigger impact when I came in but when you haven’t played for that long it wasn’t to be.”

Allan will hope it is second time lucky at Parkhead as he bids to put a mixed campaign behind him and finally showcase his talents in green and white.

And the playmaker is confident he can impress new Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers as Celtic set their sights on six-in-a-row this summer.

“I can’t wait to be honest and hopefully I can get some good pre-season games under my belt, get into the team and have a run,” he told the Celtic View.

“The fans have seen nowhere near my best. As I said it took some time for me to get into my stride at Hibs and they saw the best of me and hopefully it will be the same here.

“It’s a fresh start and you want to make an impact on the new manager. Everyone is at the same level of fitness so there will be a few players including myself who will want to catch the new gaffer’s eye.”

I'm sure he'll get a chance to impress. I think Rodgers will like him to be honest, good range of passing.

Nowhere near hard working enough, lost in the summer shuffle IMO.

I do still like him right enough.

Can't like them that much. I * can't wait till he screws up their horrible fans faces a few degrees lower when he scores against them.

This could be an issue in regards to Allan, you look at Brendan at Liverpool he brought in Joe Allen and put huge faith in Jordan Henderson, two midfielders who put in a lot of effort and get up and down the pitch quite often. He also signed guys like Milner and Can who have a similar work ethic. Just having the eye for a pass probably won't cut it in terms of making a Rodgers starting XI. It'll be interesting to see how does though.

I like him, think he has the eye for a pass and guile that few in Scotland can match.

However, I am struggling to find a place for him in a Rodgers side. Certainly 4-3-3 anyway. Unless he goes with something else to suit the players we have.
