Looking forward to seeing more of him. Offers something different.

Would be pleasing for him to be a success as he will struggle to afford/find a player in his mould.

Proved nothing yet though, long way to go.

Good passer of the ball but i would say he needs to work on his awareness abit as i think he gets caught out to often not collecting the ball when he should.

Thats maybe just down to a lack of match sharpness though .

I'm not sure if the positivity over Allan is a sign of our fans looking for something (or someone) to grasp onto just now, or a simple case of mass delusion.

He's hardly played for us yet and has a somewhat patchy career history if we're honest, yet seems to be heralded as some sort of future star.

He left Scotland with a big reputation and couldn't make the grade at WBA, bouncing around the likes of MK Dons, Portsmouth & Birmingham on loan before Albion released him and he ended up at Hibs.

He's 24 years old and looked decent in the Scottish Championship. He was brought on against Ajax which was undoubtedly the biggest stage he's played on yet and, despite some people going to great lengths to make excuses for him, he * up and cost us that late goal.

I remain unimpressed at the moment, and can't believe some are talking about him being a replacement for Kris Commons (as soon as January no less!!!), being possibly the best passer we have and so forth.

Get a * grip. He's got a long way to go before he's eclipsing someone like Kris Commons or putting the passing ability of Nir Bitton to shame.

On another note, if that error that cost us the decisive goal had been made by GMS or Stuart Armstrong the fans would have been all over them, not making excuses.

    Patronising to suggest it's delusional.

The guy has shown flashes of what he done at Hibs regularly last Season already and he's barely been on the park. His pass to Griffiths in the Ajax game, as an example, was sublime. Only Johansen at his best last Season was trying that kind of stuff, it's a natural thing to be excited by a player that has good vision, good weight of pass and is willing to attempt things a little bit out of the ordinary.

Yeah, well, maybe I've become cynical in my old age, but I'm sceptical when a guy is heralded as a top class passer and blessed with vision but failed to make the grade in the lower leagues down south with a number of teams.

Time will tell, but I remain unconvinced at the moment.

He showed some flashes of real vision and creativity against Ajax. That's why people are excited.

He also made a real * hour mistake that led to us conceding a goal.

And? Mistakes can be ironed out of a game. Playing at that level for the first time of his career he showed that he could be a game changer.

Nobody is saying for definite that he is but Griffiths should have buried that chance he set up and he set up Mulgrew as well. He looked genuinely skilfull and creative. An exciting type of player.

Henrik Larsson made a horrible mistake in his first Celtic game that cost us the game. He did not too bad after that.

Scott Allan, if given the chance, looks like he could be a real player for us imo.

Hands up. I didn't want him.

He's impressed me though, nowhere near a finished article and he'll need to improve those aspects very quickly but he has abilities that can't be taught, his vision and weight of pass are very good.

We're gonna hound the boy over one mistake? Pretend he doesn't have real ability and quality (shown in a short space of time) that no one else is really showing?

Thankfully we don't use how a player got on years ago in a different Country as a yard stick of ability. Otherwise we'd have never have signed Lubo, Sutton or any number of class footballers.

No one is suggesting this guy is a saviour, they are (rightly) getting excited at what he can potentially bring to us. Over and above that, his 2 spells with different Scottish Clubs have proved he is class in Scotland. Had Clubs all over the place interested in him at Dundee United and was the best player in the League, by miles, last Season with Hibs.

Henrik Larsson hadn't spent the past few years of his career bouncing around the lower leagues in England on loan before being released by West Brom.

As I said, I'm yet to be convinced. That doesn't mean I can't be convinced, I'm just not buying into the "best passer in the midfield", "replacement for Commons" chat quite yet.

Clearly he never settled in England, big deal. It's happened to thousands of Scottish kid's going down too early or for whatever other reason..

I believe he'll be a real player here. His cameo appearances (including his mistake), have only enhanced my belief..

We signed Lubo Moravcik from a German 2nd division Club he had played 5 games for...

Say what you want about the mistake against Ajax, but if Griffiths had finished that 1 on 1 then we would have been leading thanks to Allan's belter of a pass.

I've seen more from him in 60 minutes than I have from Armstrong this season. Or GMS.

The same Moravcik who was already an international player with over 50 odd caps and a World Cup in Italy under his belt? The same guy who had played over 200 odd games in France by the time he arrived here?

Aye, that's not quite the same as a Scottish player who did fairly well with Dundee United before heading down south and then returning after some fairly anonymous stints with the likes of MK Dons and Portsmouth.

As I've already said, I'm not writing him off, I'm simply not joining the ranks of those who are calling him the best passer of a ball we have and a replacement for Commons.

You'd think he was some 18 year old wonderkid the way folk are talking about him.

He's the same age as Bitton, a guy who's already got international & Champions League performances under his belt, and Forrest, a guy who's played international football and over 100 times for us.

Aye, he could be a decent player, but in my eyes he's already far behind other players his age in our squad, such as the two mentioned above, and he's not as hot a prospect in my opinion as the likes of McGregor & Tierney.

It'll take more than a few flashes of passing ability to make me think he's the man to eventually take over from Kris Commons.

McGregor a hot prospect? Aye right.
