    Brown Bitton
    Mackay-Steven Johansen Armstrong

    Henderson Mulgrew
    Forrest Commons Allan

Mulgrew'll more than likely move back to defence, so we could find ourselves a bit short in there.

There's no way they can out-bid us and they've not had a scouting team for years so it's not like they'll be able to judge potential like we can...

If he's good enough Ronny will sign him, if he's not he'll go to them... either we get a good one or they get a not so good one, win win.

So many on here under rating this boy drastically . He will be a top SPL player , whether it is with us or not remains to be seen .

    Not really.

He's had one good season in the Championship and wouldn't currently start for us. Not a boy anymore either.

I'd still take him but just as you say people might be underrating him there are some who are massively overrating him.

Aye if anything * are getting carried away. Johansen has ripped teams on the continent apart won his countries and 2 different Leagues player of the years and is the same age as him.

Even Stuart Armstrong is a year younger than him and was a dominant player in the SPL for 2/3 season now.

Allan is a talented technical player but has big holes in his game, like defensively, fitness and work-rate. I see him at best being a Niall McGinn/Paddy McCourt/Willo Flood decent SPL player but never cutting it for the likes of Celtic. Although you never know.

Most players his age who are genuinly good have put in big performances against good teams in Europe or just showed real talent in good Leagues and have done for a while.

The only + points on a Scott Allan would be he had a couple of good games against Sevco, same Sevco who were destroyed by Motherwell where Stephen Pearson looked like a white Patrick Vieira :56: and also that he had a good season in the 2nd tier of Scotland.

He has an awful goalscoring record for someone who plays behind the strikers. Scott Brown scored more than double the goals than him last season.

I don't buy that logic. Mackay-Steven was playing for Dundee United at the same age. Allan would have walked into that United side. He made a poor career choice and he corrected it by joining Hibernian.

Still though he's achieved nothing and done nothing at any decent level of football.

When Scott Brown was the age Allan is now, he'd played 230 games for Celtic and Hibs scoring 30 goals and had 16 caps for Scotland. Won SPL Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year and we had obviously spent £4.4million on him.

Alan has a long way to go to prove himself as anything decent and isnt that young.

Just saying he's not really a young player. He's the same age as Johansen and plays the same position does he not? You'd expect him to be fighting it out with him, does anyone think they are comparable players?

I don't know how well he'd do here. It's abundantly clear that he has talent though and I don't think it's fair to judge him because he hasn't yet played consistently well at a high level because he made a poor career choice (Dedryck Boyata?). He's has attributes that're very difficult to find in a player with our budget. He sees passes that no one else sees and, importantly, has the ability to execute them. You can't teach that kind of intelligence. Everything else can be coached which is why I think he's worth the risk.

I think he could be a welcome surprise, like Mackay-Steven. If it doesn't work out, no real harm done.

Fair enough, I've never watched him consistently but people are getting hyped up about him.

    Could he challenge Johansen?

After watching his interview on Sky, it seems he wants to spend this year at Hibs, and see the year out on his contract.

You can't always believe these interviews though, I suspect Hibs/Stubbs may have told him to say that, both out of respect of the club, and to try and force a possible higher bid.

I'd only want Allan if we could trim the squad first...
