At the same time, i do think their is some money to be made once Scott Alan has been here for a season or two. Who's to say his long term objectives aren't that of Ledley, Wanyama etc. Obviously he'll want to go and play in the Premiership too.

There is also the possibility he'll stick around if things go well, but straight away he's gonna be under the spotlight and i think he can make an immediate impact, just because of the good players he'll be surrounded by.

It's taken some top pros a fair bit of time to get the fitness up to play the system, so i think you've got to give Alan a bit of time also. I'm kind of hopeful he can hit the ground running pretty sharpish.

He flopped in League one and the Championship before coming back to sign for Hibs.

I'd be happy to bet my life savings that he never plays in the Premiership, and I actually laughed out loud when I saw you mention Wanyama in the same post as him.

Rather than look at it as a complete failure, i'm thinking it's been a worthwhile education in the game going down south and sampling that.

Got to give him some time to settle into it, but i've a sneaky suspicion he can come straight into the side and win everyone over quite quickly. You've surely got to fancy Armstrong, Johansen and Alan being a decent three behind the striker, with GMS as the striker. SO there are some things to try out with this squad that we might not see in top gear for a few months. Given by what we've seen already, there is no real reason to start panicing about not qualifying for the group stage.

The transfer window has a bit to go and i'd expect another signing or two to come in yet. Then i tend to think we've got a * of a side. Drop in a Mechele, or someone of that standard, we're surely gonna have the sort of team who can compete because of the pace throughout the side.

A few dafties booin from the Green Brigade or round about that area anyway, quickly drowned out by zombie nation.

I can mind bein at Motherwell away last season and Griffiths got booed off a few folk when he came on after all that Rudi Scatcel pish. He scored and it was soon all forgotten about. This wee guy will be no different.

I understand where you're coming from but it's a pretty negative way of thinking about it. Yeah it's a bit OTT all the fuss about signing him. It's more of a GIRUY to the zombies, but not exactly a blockbuster signing. You can't really slate the club for signing in form players in the country. There was plenty of posts on here while Lenny was manager, saying that we missed out on players like Gauld, Robinson etc. yet now we sign young Scottish players and there's a post like yours calling it lack of ambition.

Personally I think a player who knows Scottish football, feels at home, knows the club and the expectation that comes with it are all good things that your Banguras, Pukkis etc. don't have.

That would be most stupid of you.

Scott Allan is good enough to play in the Premiership right now, never mind how much better he potentially can be.

I'd have him over a number of Premiership midfielders as would a lot of people.

That is a good point. I mean fs, we have Steven Fletcher as our national teams no. 9 just cus he plays in the BPL. Tony Watts better than him every day of the week but he's at Charlton. Fletcher so good but Watt has so much more in his locker.
It doesn't matter what league a player is in, even the BPL has plenty players who were good but once they got their big moves obviously let their standards slip.

Then I agree we really shouldn't be signing someone with so little potential IMO. What's the point?

Is it no just Gifs that are banned in here cause of that Pukki gif?

Why would pictures not be aloud? A better go look up the rules:smiley-laughing002:

There nothing in the rules about no posting pictures in here:39:

A know gifs aren't aloud in Celtic chat but that wasn't in the rules either.

It's a low-risk signing. We should be bringing in decent young Scottish players after missing out on so many over the last few seasons. At the very least, he'll be a good, solid squad member - which is probably worth the money we paid.

He looks (from what little I've seen) to be more incisive in the final 3rd than Rogic. He looks like he can improve physically, and probably need a bit of fine-tuning on his decision-making, but that'll come as he trains/plays with better players/coaches.

In regard to Scottish talent, hopefully we are looking at Ryan Christie
