I'm so jealous of you * in the UK with your month-long revision periods. On my semester abroad in St. Andrews my friends and I just travelled until the week before. Where I went in the US last day of classes was a Friday and exams started the next Monday.

Is Glasgow uni alright? Got an offer there a while back but unsure if I want to accept. Any of guys have any experience of studying there? What's it like living in Glasgow? Cheers for your answers.

I'm actually from Gothenburg, Sweden. But I got family in Glasgow, so figured I'd apply to Glasgow uni. Nice change of pace from living my entire life in Sweden perhaps

Glasgow Uni is a cracking uni - 4th oldest in the English speaking world, Russell Group aswell. Plus Glasgow is cracking to live in.

    You'll be fine.

Glasgow is a great uni, there's a lot of foreign students there so you won't feel out of place. Out of interest, what are you studying?

Living in Glasgow can be a eh... mixed bag. Some parts of the city are literally some of the most deprived areas in Europe, others are as nice as you'll get anywhere in the UK.

Business & Management/Politics is what I'll be studying there. Yeah, I might be able to live family for a year or so to save money, so that's a huge plus. I've been to Glasgow many times, but never lived there.

    Nah :smiley-laughing002:

It's a big enough uni for you to meet plenty of sound people tbh, the pretentious * type will probably exist at any older/Russell Group UK university so it isn't really a concern.

Glasgow is a cracking place to study too. I've read about a lot of foreign students having problems 'adapting' to the * weather, but coming from Sweden I don't think it would be much of an issue. :50:

Economics my friend. Maybe an ethical/moral '*' of some sort :86:

Edinburgh has better reputation for Economics I think, but I think it is probably more 'elitist'...would love to do a masters at Oxford/LSE, so undergrad uni might not be as important to employers. That's a bit of a pipe dream though.

I did economics at Glasgow. I pretty much agree with everything you said there. Doing it again I would probably pick Edinburgh - like you said it's more elitist, and probably full of more * to boot, but the big investment firms in Edinburgh recruit straight from there (they do at Glasgow too but without such regularity I guess).

A masters in Oxford/LSE in the right subject would set you up nicely for pretty much anything you wanted to do, but it would be crazy expensive I imagine.
