I got an A for higher accounts and I could have done it at uni but I don't think I could cope with a minimum of 4 years of it in uni then a career in it

I will be doing a part of an accounting course when i do my masters, either financial management or the finance part of my petroleum economics masters, depends which one i get into.

I do envisage myself having a career in finance, maybe not fully fledged accountant but along those lines.

Yeah, 20% which is the biggest weighting. Pain as I am pretty confident of the rest.

There's all sorts of professional qualifications you can do, but most graduate positions put you through ICAS (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland). You can do exams by yourself if you want but you'd have to pay yourself, whereas most employers will pay for you to sit them.

You don't actually have to do professional exams once you graduate, but it's much easier to move up in the field with a CA. There's absolutely loads of accountancy firms out there, and almost all of them hire graduates on a yearly basis and put them through their professional exams (which is what I'm doing now). Makes it one of the easier professions to get jobs in after you graduate. I graduated a year ago now and I, and almost everyone I knew at uni, have jobs which is great.

I must say im not a fan of a course in my final year, the crunch course having two lecturers, one for each half, firstly the first half lecturer is a very good teacher, he teaches as if you are an idiot and thats how i like it no assumptions.

Second lecturer while obviously an intelligent person doesn't quite translate that in his lectures and its really difficult to actually get a sense of what i have actually learned.

Also just a question to anyone who has done macroeconomics, advanced, does anyone know of a alternative version of keynes speculative demand for money, got a question about it i am revising as a possible exam question.

'One unsatisfactory aspect of Keynes’s speculative theory of demand for money is that each investor is assumed to assign to the future rate of interest only one value which holds with certainty. What does this imply for the demand for money? Do you know any theoretical development to remedy this shortcoming? Justify in detail your response.'

So i am trying to find the theoretical development, anyone know?:icon_mrgreen:

Perfect, one of the students in my Advanced Macroeconomics class made a facebook group whereby we all post up our essays and the mark they got.

The essays will constitute basically what will be asked in the exam so i can basically revise and aid my revision with other people's essays and i know what they have written is good because of the mark they got. Made my next week so much easier.

Will passing a HNC course at college along with three highers at B (English, PE and History) get me into Uni? Obviously the HNC course is relevant to the Uni course.

Cheers for answering, mate. A good bit of reassurance that. Was quite apprehensive about going to college. Now I know a good grade at HNC will be a stepping stone.

I got straight into third year at uni with an HND (Had 4 highers). As long as you perform well at college uni will take you on.

    Well done!

I'm hoping to do Sport at Uni. With all due respect, I doubt the majority in those courses will be basking in A's - every PE class I have been in has been full of people taking the *. Hopefully that works in my favour too.

For those of you who are doing/have done Higher English; When writing the critical essay do you write it as if the marker already knows the plot i.e not fully explaining characters and their situations or as if they have no clue?
