I would probably choose higher adjusted r squared but i did some of this last year and its not exactly fresh in my mind, is this for coursework? If so i always asked the lecturer, even the most stupid of questions because a mark here and there counts big time.

Probably will just drop him an email. Or wait until the procrastinating * in my class hit the same problem as I do and see what they do.

Got an email earlier today from Aberdeen offering me a place in Petroleum, Energy and Finance Economics subject to a 2:1, so thats Aberdeen and Robert Gordons places accepted, Aberdeen first choice, Robert Gordons second. Both Masters courses.

Also i was wondering, hoping rather if anyone could help me out with my History Dissertation. I have just finished it, all 11,000 words.

Its on the Roman Empire, the military explanation as to its fall. What i need now is to go over it and check for errors, improve the way i express my argument etc...

If anyone would like to read it, give feedback or just give a sort of its good/*/needs improving kind of remark.

I realise its long, roughly 15/16 pages but if anyone would like a copy to read then please PM and i will email it to you.

    Cheers in advance.

For any student here looking to do study abroad in the US I would love to recommend Marshall University.

My mate has just finished his honours year. I considered applying as I done well in the Higher but decided against it, figuring that I would eventually drop out as it is without a doubt the most boring thing I have ever done. * the good money, I'd end up topping myself later in life doing that every day :smiley-laughing002:

Anyway, my mate genuinely seems to enjoy accountancy, so I suppose that is half the battle. If you like it and, more importantly, are good at it then it's still a brilliant career. :50:

Haha cheers for the reply. Aye a few people have mentioned to me that they reckon it would be depressing as *. I think it gets a hard time of it tbh, I dont see the jobs themselves being as bad as people think.

Going to a firm for a weeks work experience in June so I'll see more then what it's all about, was just wondering if anyone knew about the job opportunities etc it brings.

Aye I would imagine the office environment isn't as bad as the subject, and it would help that even during further accreditation and stuff you'd no doubt be on a smashing salary. I just knew deep down I couldn't do that subject for 4 years at Uni never mind carve a career from it, regardless of the money. I was good at it, but hated it if that makes sense. Doing it at Standard Grade and Higher was plenty for me.:50:

Going to see the firm and how it works as a day-to-day job will give you an insight into the way it would be after Uni. It's a good idea without a doubt :50:

I remember my mate telling me that his first year doing it in Uni was largely stuff he'd learned in Higher, which makes sense because a lot of applicants will be going off the back of doing Higher or Advanced Higher Maths in school rather than actual Accounting.

Aye I see what you mean, well it can't be for everyone! I cant do it at school, it isn't an A Level choice I don't think. Do some accounts in Business though so it won't be 100% new.

Yea, it seems to be a good paying and pretty sound job. Always a demand for them etc. I'll know a lot more about it after this week in the office I'd say. :50:

Aye I'm not sure how many schools actually offer it, mine did (surprisingly because it was pretty standard subjects aside from that) and it meant we had students from neighbouring schools coming in for the double periods in some sort of agreement. For certain subjects once we hit 5th/6th year we could use a local college course for it, might want to ask if there is any similar options over there?

Good luck with it anyway mate, hope the work experience gives you a good insight :50:

No but I am studying it now as part of my CFA and it makes me miserable :54:

I find it more boring than anything I have ever studied and my brain doesnt except any of it!

But if you have the kind of brain that excepts that kind of stuff and you are good at it you can make quite a comfotable living off it. Certainly one of the better degrees out there

Would that not be a massive part of a CFA?

Aye I think I posted about doing accounting at uni on this thread a while back.

The working life is pretty decent, it's not exactly thrilling stuff but I enjoy it. I work with quite a small firm where most folk are my age, which helps. I'm also out working somewhere different every week which is great as it means I'm not stuck in the same office every week either. I'll be starting my professional exams come August though, might have a different opinion on it all then!

Aye just looked back and it was you that replied to me. :50:

So once you get your honours degree, do you have to do separate exams with the accounting bodies themselves to become qualified? How does it work?
