[Link] Sammy and Ledley set to leave.

I've assumed Ledley was going to be leaving for months now. I'm 100% certain of it at this stage. He should be sold in January if anyone is interested. The board need to shoulder the blame for letting his contract run down.

I think samaras will be off too.

On the face of it, I would like to assume Sammy would stay regardless of this talk of a pay cut.
Unfortunately I see Ledley going back down south, I fully believe he loves Celtic as much as many foreign players, but the offer of bigger wages to his boyhood club, well just can't fight it.
With Sammy, his boyhood club is in a different league, and I reckon he realy had fallen in love with us, I'd keep him till he retired. But who knows what the board are telling him to sway his mind.

If they both left for nothing I wouldn't be too upset about it. They signed a contract and they would have honored that contract. You would no doubt get some on here cracking up obviously. You just can't please some people.

 

Aye I know what you mean. It's not like they forced a move or put in a transfer request.

You can't blame someone for seeing out their contract.

I honestly don't think it's as bad as people are making out. I like both but neither would be in my first 11 and Ledley's wages especially mean you can't have him sitting on the bench.

 

We would miss Ledley more out the two if they left.

If they did leave then that's about £45,000 a week off the wage bill if you want to put a positive spin on it

I'd be devastated if Sammy went, just on a personal level he's my favourite player since Henrik.

Yes! Armstrong is a * good player. Can't see Lennon signing anybody from the SPFL sadly though.

 

The thing is, I don't think there is anything left that Sammy can provide us with that the likes of young Mackay-Steven couldn't provide for us out on the left now.

You could argue that GMS would now be a better wide option than Samaras, due to the latter being so inconsistent. Mackay-Steven also has age on his side.

 

I'd be gutted if they both left. Which I think they will.

 

I'd prefer them to stay, especially Ledley, but if neither want an extension get what we can for them in Jan and bring in GMS and/or Gauld. Sorted

 

I won't lose any sleep if both of them leave. In fact, I hope we get some money for them in January.

 

Wouldn't be bothered about Sammy leaving, we got one great year out of him last year and it doesn't seem like that form will return any time soon. When he scored the hat-trick against Killie this year my Dad said that would be the last we'd see of him this season and on last years form I argued against that, but turns out he was right.
