This man is becoming a Celtic icon.

Whenever I ask people which player they think fo when they think of Celtic they always say Samaras. He's gna be our longest serving player.

I'm glad he's signed a new deal although I think it should have been a 2 year deal. To sign him that long is risky as he may stop trying knowing he'll be here for another 4 yrs.

Neil's thinking: "Our best chance of winning the league every year is beating the Auld enemy in our four games. Sammybhoy has proved to be a Hunskelper, scoring goals and generally playing a blinder in all important games, so get him signed for four years and get it up the Huns for four years".

Sign on the dotted line my bhoy and let's win the league :50:

I for one am happy with this and would be delighted if he signed long term. Am I the only one that can see his technical ability and ball retention? because sure as * those that sit around me cant, and unless he beats every man infront of him then slots the ball in the back of the net they are constantly on his back. * me off big time. I agree he aint Henrik but who is? On ability he doesnt have too many to rival him and is the type that need an arm around him and the fans to love him, from lenny he has the arm around him and from the fans sadly pure appathy. That said he can be very frustrating due to decision making but his hold up play is second to none. Good move in my opinion.

    4 years ?
    Don't know, not very sure.
Why not offer him a rolling contract, that can be renewed at the end of the season, depending on his performance?
Or maybe the Celtic board plan to give him a 4 years deal & then sell him for say, 2 or 3 mil at the end of next season, quoting, to the buying club, that Sammy still has 3 years left in his contract.
    This, could be interesting !!!!!!!!!!!!!!:50:

noooooo, playing a few good games a season, although all against the manky mob does not warrant a four year contract. the two he scored at legoland in january are the only two league goals he has scored this season. he isn't good enough

    Totally agree :50:

I wonder what the Sammy-bashers will do when Sammybhoy will be lifting the trophy for the title with his teamates? They'll be going: "Boo Samaras, you're not holding it right, you've got to be more consistent in your grip, you're holding it like a fairy, and get your hair cut you great * boo".

The guy can't do anything right for some people...

For more years of FairyFannySammy, YASSS! Shove this great news right up ya chuff ya ungrateful delusional Sammy bashers :bbpd:

  10. didn't petrov do something similar as a mark of respect for the club and allow them to get something for him rather then he goes for free.

would be a could idea if thats the plan

im happy at this deal . He deserved that contract , because of the displays hes put in this season under lennys management .... and also because hes a young player. Hes still to peak.

Thing with sammy , because hes a big lanky fella , you always imagine the ball geting caught underneath his feet , but for a big lad , he puts himself about well on that football pitch. Hes got a good physical presence , great pace and good in the air link up player aswell .

Why not offer Kris Commons a contract only for games which he has had a good performance too? He was shocking against Rangers, the only oppostion which he faced which had an ounce of quality and he was crap. Ballooned shots, misplaced passes, hoof defending, reckless tackles, Kris Commons gave us the full repertoire of crapness against the Huns whereas Sammmy ripped them a new one AGAIN.
But you wouldn't offer Commons a lame "rolling contract" depending on performances would you? Why does Sammybhoy deserve this special treatment? The moment you accept that Sammy is just a sound player who is capable of flashes of brilliance but usually plays ACCORDING TO HIS £2 million price tag then you'd be a much happier fan. Wanting and expecting Sammy to be some sort of super player day in day out will leave you disappointed. If he was such a super consistent player then he'd be playing for a much better league than Scotland. Sorry, but that's the truth.

he only cost like a milllion and took a 40% paycut to come to us. i respect him for that.

i hope he signs, cos on his day the big man is unstoppable and we'll ned him in europe next season.

One of the most frustrating players I have ever watched, but for some reason he is one of my favourites!

Am glad he is staying coz he had a good run when he first came scoring a few goals as well. Hopefully Lenny can get him back to that form. We all know he is great when it comes to man management!

At his best he is unplayable, but when he has a bad game he is useless. Lets hope leenon can get him at his best all the time.

Not sure about this at all, possibly the most inconsistent player I've ever seen.

I think it's no coincidence he'* a good bit of from just as his contract runs down, remember he was great when he came in on loan as well and was trying to win a contract.

    4 year deal?

    Hmmmm ..

Although I was probably one of Samaras biggest haters over the last couple of seasons I have to say that I have changed my opinion greatly maybe since the huns game although he'll never be a Larsson, I can see now that he brings something to the team, as long as he not playing left wing he needs to be upfront where he can put himself about and open up space for other especially Hooper, I can also see what a bit of confidence can do for him so although I know he can be frustrating at times am going to stay of his back, I think most of his problem are when he over trying a bit like Stokes but now every players playing for the jersey theres not as much responsibility on his shoulders, as for the length of the deal does it matter if its 1,2 or four years what the board are doing are protecting themselves from losing at least 2 million in transfer fees look how much the manky mob have missed out on with Boyd and Miller if he signs for 4 years he can still be sold anytime within that deal and having a long contract means Celtic have all the aces in any possible transfer.
