  1. Love Samaras, delighted ;D

  2. I have to say Big Sammy is a team player, you never see him conplaining when he is benched, other than he's going to work harder. I think that this is the type of player that Celtic needs, a type that isn't going to complain when dropped for tactical reasons.
Look at the games Sammy has scored in, Rangers and Europe....big games. Because the guy has pace (pace that you don't get to see against 10 man defences). But against the bigger teams that acyually attack you then yes you get to see him at his best. And to get this type of player that won't complain about not playing 99% of game is a huge plus to Celtic.

Well done Sammy, you have proved everyone wrong, including me.

  3. On his sparse great days he is a player at a level that we simply couldnt afford if he was consistent. If he could play to his full potential he would be a 12 million quid player. IMO we cant really lose. He will be invaluable in Europe and in OF games which lets face it are the most important games. Even if he is dissapointing the contract ensures us a fee instead of nothing. He is one of those players that proffesionals really rate and seems very well known even abroad. The fact he shows best in the main games that scouts tend to watch i.e. OF games will also mean his value is raised. This contract is a virtual guarantee of a few million if we sell him, which probably would cover his wages for the duration of his contract. Unless he gets injured, we cant really lose by giving him this contract. What could be worse than him going for nothing in the summer?

  4. if he dosnt become more consistant he wont be leaving for 0,,.hes got all the ability in the world just needs to do it more often, show more fight

  5. * *. 4 more years of inconsistent fairyish pish. What are you thinking Neil? :31:

  6. Great post. Saved me some typing there, Gunt. :50:

  7. Its just nice to talk about the game of football.

  8. Where do you get this "fairyish" bit from?

The most blood-&-guts games in our calendar are the Rangers games, and those are the very ones at which Samaras excels. Doesn't sound very fairyish to me.

I've watched him totally intimidate that hun defence this season, and not just on one occasion either.

Next season, * willing, we'll need more than just 1st-rate SPL players, we'll need players who can do it in the CL. Those players are thin on the ground, and Sammy is one of them. I'm delighted he's signing a new contract - and by the looks of things so is Lenny. :50:

  9. christ to me thats a bad move

thats a player that could bench for 2 out of 4 years and not even have to make the bench - depending on form and other future signings

samaras - yeah he has shown great moments - and saved our * - but overall -

he has his head down - runs into trouble looks up - blames everyone else theres no pass - loses the ball - does the semi circle run move thing - falls over - wants the free kick - sometimes gets it

doesnt move enough quick enough - hands on the hips - walking about - when he plays he plays but its short short bursts - and over 4 years - thats rare!

celtic need players and a team that can again start punching above its weight

whats our ambition to keep failing to qualify in europe? or to try and get past the groups all the time - to get past the group all the time - you must must must - punch above your weight - and * the budget limits and prices of players now means some real scouting

if sammy can shave his hair so he can see whats going on - and hold his head up a bit - and pass a bit earlier - then mmmmmmmmaybe

but hmmmmmmmmmm im not convinced on sammy for 4 years

  10. ooh ahh samaras

  11. Good move,

He is our key to getting wins away from home in Europe

  12. The Prof

    The Prof Administrator Administrator

I always feel there is an element of risk in giving any player a long deal, whilst Sammy has performed well in a number of games this season i am still not convinced as to whether he can perform consistently over the long term.

  13. Overkill187

    Overkill187 Batshitcrazy

I agree with that mate. I kinda got mixed feelings. on form and when he wants, he can be our best striker. However when he doesn't seem to be caring too much he's worse than Sebo.

4 years is a long time and I hope he is gonna play more MOTM than DOTM performances.

  14. Sammy needs to play against teams which attack us. Otherwise they sit back too much and just kind of let him collapse in on them with no help or they shepherd him outside. I'm happy because I really believe he'll surprise some of our European opposition when we play them.

  15. Theres a method in giving him a 4 year deal he attracted interest from good european sides,he has played well for us and his goals against the huns was the turnin point in our season..Im happy hes stayin and he loves playin for us...Ooh Ahh Samarasssssss:50:

  16. His inconsistency is no greater than anyone else in our team for the last four seasons. Get good players around him he'll be fine, as he's shown this year.

  17. Oh Ah Samaras,C`mon fella you will bring it in the next years :shamrock:

Ooh Ah Samaras, Ooh Ah Samaras!!!!:shamrock:

  18. A smart move by the board!!!

there seems to be some genuine interest from Juventus and a couple of other sides this way Lenny has him next season if he reverts to type the option is there to cash in for a reasonable return instead of losing a good player for nowt!!

  19. Great news.just hope lenny keeps him playing the way he has this season
