4 year's is a bit much for me. It does appear that Lenny can get the best out of players and maybe Sammy can be one of them. I do think it's a bit of a risk from Celtic though

Wanted him to sign a new deal and will be delighted if he does maybe not a 4 year deal thought 2 year contract would have been better but in Celtic and Lennon i trust :50:Sammy will be here to take the huns apart for 4years.:celt_2:

Not sure about this to be honest. I would rather bring in a new target man in the summer. Sammy on his day is un-playable but that might only be once or twice a season. He doesnt score enough goals and run's around like a headless chicken most of the time!

It's great news. Sammy is on fire just now and he is one of the main reasons for our push for silverware in all three tournaments.I always said Samaras is a confidence player and that if the team take him to heart he will respond in kind.He offers us an outlet that no other player in the squad can provide with his acceleration, drive and composure in front of goal under duress and pressure.

I'm sorry but a 4 year deal is madness. Apart from his brace against the huns in january and his through ball to Izzy in the 3-0 game i've not been impressed with him at all. My heart stops when he gets the ball, id say 70% of the time he messes it up, thats just my opinion though. I'd extend it by a year at most and see how he does next season, having an option to extend the contact if he plays well. There are players out there we could bring in that will do much better

    2 league goals :97:

personally i think they only way this is good news is if someone offers us decent money for him in the summer, hes had 1 good game this year and that does not deserve a 4 year contract

    Great news.

Admittedly Samaras's biggest fault has been his lack of consistency. He has performed consistently this season under Lennon, albeit he has only played a handful of games. If Samaras can perform consistently as he approaches the best years of his career, then he will be brilliant for us. Samaras is unplayable at his best and I think Lennon's the one to ensure that he's at his best consistently.

He's can drop deep and link our midfield to the attack, he can run the channels and he can also be used as an aerial threat. He's got a fantastic first-touch for his size and his pace is very under-rated, there's very few defenders in the SPL who can match Samaras's pace over a decent distance.

The other thing that's overlooked with Samaras sometimes is his creativity on the ball. He has the ability to ping through balls from just about anywhere at times and create some fantastic attacks. The most recent example of this would be the through ball he played to Izaguirre in the Old Firm game, when Izaguirre set-up Hooper. There's countless other examples of his passing attributes.

As you can tell, I'm delighted with this. He has had a disgusting amount of personal abuse over the years, despite this, he has a clear love for the club and the supporters and has always had Celtic's best interests at heart. Samaras can contribute massively to our success in the next four years.

Lennon has got the best out of some players who we thought were very average and lacked ability, a good example is Charlie Mulgrew. However, Samaras's ability is unquestionable, all Lennon needs to do is get the best out of him and I firmly believe Lennon will do so.

    Ooh Ahh Samaras!

plus, when we return to european football next year he's the ideal lone targetman in away games.
great news, if he went we'd be looking at forking out a few million to find a decent replacement

Quality. Sammy has been like a new signing anyway this season as with Wilson and mulgrew. Plus sammy has a fair few admirers abroad. He's still a young bhoy so we might get a few quid if any of teams came calling in the future.

I'm not Sami's biggest fan by any stretch of the imagination but I feel that Oor Lenny has turned him into the player I knew he could be this season and a 4 year deal for a man who would crawl over hot coals with his tadger out for the club and the supporters is a great piece of business

Mulgrew was a new signing :icon_mrgreen:

Seriously though, I think it's great that Samaras is getting this new deal as I feel he has earned it this season after being trampled on by Mowbray's terrible management. Lennon seemed unsure of how best to use him at first but he excelled throughout preseason and again since January as our central striker. He has all the attributes a top striker requires and obviously has a great love for the club.

im sorry but a 4 year deal for playing well in 2 of games so far this season not for me,i would have let sammy go in the summer and get someone who scores goals in this league.he is far to hit and miss for me prob more miss than hit,i hope sammy now proves me wrong and repays the club with more consistent performences

Surprised at the length of contract if it's true, although most players that came in were signed up on 4 year deals this seaosn, maybe the board's forgotten how to make ones with different numbers, I would have expected 2 or at most 3.

Glad he's staying though, really like Sammy!
